Chapter 375: Summoning Bai Hongtu
Jiang Li descended onto a lifeless planet, then kicked off with his legs to leap to another planet. He kept jumping between these celestial bodies, amusing himself until he finally discovered a continent.
“It seems this is a continental world. There’s no life on the planets.” Jiang Li stood on a moon-like celestial body, gazing at the landmass. This continent was less than one-tenth the size of the Nine Provinces Continent, though the Nine Provinces Continent was considered exceptionally large among the myriad worlds – comparing other lands to it would be unfair.
…
“My god, there’s actually someone in space!” At the headquarters of the Space Administration, a staff member exclaimed in shock, unable to believe what they were seeing. The staff projected the image onto a large screen.
Everyone involuntarily stopped their work, similarly exclaiming and discussing fervently.
“How is this possible? He doesn’t need to breathe? Isn’t afraid of cosmic radiation?”
“Is he really human?”
“His clothing is so strange – ancient-style attire.”
“Alien? Immortal?”
What they witnessed was an ancient-dressed individual moving freely through space without any protective suit. This scene completely overturned their understanding, leaving no one able to answer their questions.
Their department specialized in searching for extraterrestrial life. Now they’d found aliens, but shockingly, these beings looked exactly like humans.
The Space Administration Director rushed over upon hearing the news. Seeing Jiang Li on the screen, his face turned ashen.
“Director, it’s aliens!” The first discoverer excitedly reported to the director – finally they wouldn’t be accused of wasting research funds.
“Who authorized putting this on the main screen?!” the director roared. How could aliens look exactly like humans? This was clearly some high-level superhuman using abilities to move through space – and an unregistered one at that!
The existence of superhumans was classified information ordinary staff weren’t privy to. The government believed revealing superhumans would disrupt social order, so they worked hard to conceal their existence, keeping them operating in the shadows.
Reaching the position of Space Administration Director meant knowing many secrets.
“Must be spatial manipulation,” the director concluded, knowing high-level spatial superhumans could control surrounding space. He believed Jiang Li fell into this category. As for surviving in space through physical means alone? Absolutely impossible. Superhuman bodies were merely stronger than average – nowhere near the exaggerated level of traversing space unprotected.
“D-Director, he…”
“What now?” the director snapped impatiently, preoccupied with covering up this incident.
“That alien is looking at us.”
“What?”
Jiang Li flew toward the satellite, waving at the Space Administration staff through the camera lens.
“He seems friendly toward us.”
The director disagreed – he believed this superhuman was taunting the nation. He used his authority to seal the recording, making a copy for another department:
The Superhuman Management Bureau.
This was a secretly established government agency specializing in superhuman affairs, gathering numerous elites and experts – the undisputed enforcement arm of hidden powers. Though both were “bureaus,” the Superhuman Management Bureau far outranked the Space Administration.
The Space Administration Director personally visited the Superhuman Management Bureau, finding a responsible official to explain the situation.
“Spatial superhuman? Impossible!”
“I’m the strongest spatial superhuman! Even if I could do this, I’d never look so relaxed!”
“Creating a spatial barrier sounds simple, but prolonged space activity requires oxygen reserves. Thirty cubic meters just for air storage, plus making the space move with you? The difficulty multiplies!”
…
Unaware of this world’s reactions, Jiang Li examined the satellite. A civilization’s aerospace industry often represented its most advanced achievements. Through the satellite, Jiang Li easily determined this world’s technological level.
“Similar to my previous life.”
Transforming into a meteor, he descended to a coastal city, disappearing from the Space Administration’s tracking.
Jiang Li altered his clothing to match local styles – board shorts, floral shirt, sunglasses – perfectly fitting the beach city’s vibe.
Jiang Li clicked his tongue. Temperature extremes meant nothing to him; he felt no summer heat.
“The locals call their continent the Vegu Continent. Only one nation exists here – seems quite peaceful with no signs of Outer Realm Demon invasion.”
“Hmm, can’t conclude too quickly though. Could be the demons are secretly scheming, evading my spiritual sense.”
Jiang Li remained vigilant. Outer Realm Demons never attacked openly, always relying on underhanded tactics.
“Help! Someone stole my bag!” a passerby screamed.
The deep rumble of a motorcycle engine sounded as the thief rode off waving the stolen bag, whistling triumphantly.
A youth darted from the crowd, legs moving at superhuman speed to chase down the motorcycle and retrieve the bag, returning it to the owner. Before the victim could see his face clearly, the youth vanished.
…
Peng Lianghai retreated into an alley, panting heavily. He still hadn’t mastered his enhancement ability.
Approaching footsteps put him on alert.
“Who’s there?”
“Relax, I’m not a threat.” The speaker was a beautiful woman who introduced herself, “I’m from a certain undisclosed government department. My name is Shao Junyi.”
“Undisclosed department?” Peng Lianghai eyed Shao Junyi suspiciously, finding everything about her questionable.
“You must have recently awakened your superhuman abilities and aren’t proficient yet.”
“Superhuman abilities?”
“Correct. Your enhancement ability is one type of superpower – enhancement series. You’re not unique – many superhumans exist worldwide. I myself am an illusion-series superhuman.”
“So I’m not special after all.” This realization somewhat dampened Peng Lianghai’s mood.
Shao Junyi tucked a strand of hair behind her ear: “I’ve observed you for two months. After awakening your power, you didn’t misuse it but helped people everywhere – proving you’re a good person. I’m inviting you to join our department.”
“Joining us means ten times the average monthly salary. Merit promotions can increase this further.”
Not fully trusting Shao Junyi, Peng Lianghai cautiously replied: “I have college entrance exams soon. Can we discuss this after?”
Shao Junyi smiled: “Of course. Our department welcomes you anytime.”
“Enhancement-series, illusion-series. Interesting.” Jiang Li smiled. Earlier, he’d used his spiritual sense to locate this so-called undisclosed department – the Superhuman Management Bureau – but this was his first direct observation.
Jiang Li set up an array, channeling spiritual energy as he softly chanted: “Summoning – Bai Hongtu.”
Bai Hongtu materialized within the glowing aura.
