Chapter 391: Banishment to Alternate Space
“Are you sure this is an introductory physics course?”
Even though Peng Lianghai hadn’t studied it before, he could tell this was quantum mechanics.
Shao Junyi’s face flushed with embarrassment. She realized she couldn’t fully trust the school forum’s comments.
She nervously explained, “At Capital University, quantum mechanics is considered the most basic physics.”
Peng Lianghai rolled his eyes.
……
“The content above isn’t difficult. Everyone just needs to think a little and they can learn it.” Professor Luo was passionately lecturing on stage, while below him sat a group of students who half-understood.
Professor Luo felt this batch of students was really hard to teach; they couldn’t even grasp such simple material.
And these were supposed to be the top students from across the country, selected through the national college entrance exams, local top scorers included?
Their level was average at best.
“Since everyone understands, we’ll start roll call questions. If you can’t answer when called, you’ll fail this course.”
At this announcement, the students immediately tensed up.
Failing just because you can’t answer? That penalty was too harsh. Professor Luo had never been this strict before.
Shao Junyi was puzzled as well: “When I was in school, Professor Luo was always kind, just a bit loud. He never failed anyone. The key points he highlighted before exams always appeared on the tests.”
“Is he in a bad mood today?” Peng Lianghai didn’t know what to say.
“But I saw Professor Luo smiling happily.”
Shao Junyi still felt something was off about Professor Luo.
“Zhang Su, answer this question: Why do the algebraic operation rules of matrix mechanics follow the non-commutative property of multiplication?”
Zhang Su was a short boy with a long face covered in pockmarks.
He nervously stood up, his mind blank, palms sweating, unsure what to do.
Before entering university, he was the local top scorer in the national college entrance exams, first place in three city-wide mock exams, the “model child” according to his parents.
He was unpopular because of his looks, so no one liked him. He devoted himself entirely to studying, believing only academic achievement could prove his worth.
When classmates who looked down on him asked for help, he secretly felt proud.
His confidence was built on his grades.
But at Capital University, his once-proud grades meant nothing. Many others were better than him, and those people practically lived in the library.
To keep up, Zhang Su started going to the library too, grinding through difficult theories.
He had studied late last night and forgot there was Professor Luo’s class today, so he hadn’t prepared.
At Capital University, not preparing meant you couldn’t keep up with the professor’s pace; it was a guarantee you’d fall behind.
Not to mention if he couldn’t answer, he’d fail the course.
Failing was a word he never thought applied to him before university.
But now, failure was just one step away.
Zhang Su stammered, unsure how to answer. He lowered his head, too afraid to look at Professor Luo or his classmates. He felt like everyone was mocking him.
Seeing this, Professor Luo sighed, “Alright, you may sit down.”
When Zhang Su thought it was over, Professor Luo added, “You don’t have to take the final exam. You will retake this course next year.”
Zhang Su felt like he’d fallen into an ice cellar.
Even worse was what happened next. Professor Luo called on another student, who smoothly gave the exact answer the professor wanted.
This student was Zhang Su’s roommate, who Zhang Su remembered spent all day sleeping but had the best grades.
The gap between people became clear in that moment, but Zhang Su refused to admit it.
He lowered his head, feeling troubled. Professor Luo continued teaching, and the other students listened attentively; only he was lost in his thoughts.
He felt everyone was laughing at him. He was the first in class to fail and would never hold his head high again.
“If only everyone would disappear.” Zhang Su muttered. This thought echoed endlessly inside him, growing larger and larger.
His eyes reddened as he suddenly stood up, waving his hand. Where his gaze landed, the students vanished into thin air, their fate unknown!
Professor Luo was the first to sense something was wrong. He scrambled to the side, avoiding disappearance.
Peng Lianghai was a split second slower but realized Zhang Su had awakened a superpower, and it was unknown.
Unfortunately, it was too late. Peng Lianghai and Shao Junyi disappeared together.
Zhang Su stared at the empty classroom, dazed.
When he realized what had happened, he started trembling, overwhelmed with panic.
What had he done? Where had his classmates gone?
Had they been sent to another place or turned to ashes?
He dared not think further.
“Zhang Su, what have you done!” Professor Luo roared.
“I… I don’t know. I just feel like I sent them to another place.” Zhang Su stammered, never having been so afraid of Professor Luo before.
“Can you bring them back?”
“I think so. I’ll try.” Zhang Su whispered.
At these words, Professor Luo’s expression eased.
Zhang Su frowned deeply, trying hard to recall the feeling from before.
“It seems so…”
More than ten minutes passed before Zhang Su returned to his previous state, slowly standing up and restoring everyone.
“What just happened?”
“Why can’t I remember anything?”
“Ah, how did more than ten minutes just pass?”
The students all felt they had been somewhere just now but couldn’t remember where.
Shao Junyi’s memory stopped at the moment before disappearance, then returned here; she also didn’t recall what had happened.
She asked Peng Lianghai, “So, how much do you remember?”
Peng Lianghai frowned, his memory fuzzy. “I saw a river. That place seemed to have only a river stretching endlessly… no, I can’t recall more.”
At this point, Shao Junyi realized that Zhang Su had awakened an extremely rare superpower—Banishment to Alternate Space!
“I need to report this to my father immediately.”
She didn’t know that the High Priest lacked this ability; she just wanted to tell her father that this superpower had appeared.
However, Professor Luo noticed Shao Junyi’s movement. A cold smile curved his lips as he crushed her phone and tossed it aside.
The students were baffled by this scene.
“I didn’t expect there to be people from the Bureau here, leaking information. A group of fools daring to stop the future rulers.”
“Who are you!” Peng Lianghai shuddered. As a second-tier enhancement-series superhuman, he hadn’t even noticed Professor Luo’s action clearly.
He sensed terrifying power lurking inside Professor Luo.
“Me?” Professor Luo laughed, removing his disguise.
“I am the High Priest of the Superhuman Cult.”
The High Priest’s mood surged. Using his luck-testing superpower, he detected good fortune in this classroom at Capital University. He guessed someone would awaken a rare superpower here.
Disguised as Professor Luo, he lectured and secretly tested everyone’s luck, finding that Zhang Su was the fortunate one.
Most superhumans awaken under pressure. He kept pressuring Zhang Su until Zhang Su broke down and awakened his power.
Everything went as planned. After Zhang Su awakened, he made everyone disappear. The High Priest worried Zhang Su’s power was just ordinary spatial ability, so he guided Zhang Su to bring them back.
What delighted the High Priest was that those brought back had lost their memories, perfectly matching the description of the Banishment to Alternate Space superpower.
