Chapter 392: Making an Entrance

“It seems even the heavens are on my side.” The High Priest laughed wildly as a suction force emanated from his palm, dragging Zhang Su toward him.

Not even the High Priest himself had anticipated obtaining the most mysterious superpower of all – Banishment to Alternate Space.

Zhang Su felt something gradually separating from his body, being forcibly extracted by the High Priest. When he was flung aside, he realized he’d lost the ability to make people disappear.

What Zhang Su didn’t know was that his entire body had reverted to its state from thirty minutes prior. The High Priest had absorbed all the energy and abilities he’d gained during that time.

Memories belonged to the soul. While the High Priest’s Devouring superpower could consume those too, he deliberately avoided doing so. Absorbing souls meant inheriting memories that weren’t his own – a recipe for mental instability. He’d learned this lesson the hard way.

Initially, consuming others’ memories hadn’t seemed problematic. But as he accumulated more and more foreign recollections, his mind became increasingly chaotic. The final result? He’d spent over five years in a psychiatric hospital.

“Run!” Peng Lianghai shouted urgently.

The students needed no further encouragement. Abandoning their class, they fled the room while calling for help. The High Priest paid their panicked exodus no mind.

The spacious classroom now stood nearly empty, occupied only by the High Priest, Peng Lianghai, and Shao Junyi.

Having obtained Banishment to Alternate Space, the High Priest felt his powers approaching perfection. He stood just one step away from world creation. Even without the other three superpowers, he should be invincible.

And conveniently, there were test subjects right before him.

“I possess tens of thousands of superpowers. When I fuse them into one, it shall be called the Invincible Ability.”

“You must be Peng Lianghai. I’ve had my eye on you for days.”

“Those newcomers Jiang Li and Bai Hongtu ruined my plans at the Bihai Branch. As their peer, your abilities shouldn’t be inferior to theirs. Let me test you.”

Peng Lianghai thought the High Priest was giving him too much credit.

The High Priest tossed several seeds into the air. They grew explosively upon catching the wind, transforming into thick-trunked trees with lush foliage in the blink of an eye.

Under the High Priest’s mental command, the massive trees shot toward Peng Lianghai at terrifying speeds.

As a mere second-tier enhancement-series superhuman, Peng Lianghai stood no chance of dodging. The impact sent him flying through multiple walls before he finally crashed to a stop. Blood gushed from his mouth as his consciousness wavered.

“So weak?” The High Priest seemed genuinely surprised. “I overestimated you.”

Shao Junyi activated her illusion superpower, attempting to trap the High Priest in a fantasy world. But he possessed the same ability – thousands of times more potent.

“Amateurs.” The High Priest lost interest. “Let me end this quickly.”

With a flick of his finger, the trees’ tips sharpened into spears before hurtling toward the two again.

The pointed trunks resembled ancient battering rams, yet their impact force far surpassed siege weapons. Any city gate would shatter before them – let alone human bodies.

Suddenly, globes of water enveloped the trees, slowing them to a complete stop.

“Well, if it isn’t our beloved director.” The High Priest showed no surprise at the director’s arrival. His clairvoyance had spotted the director nearby, rushing over after detecting the disturbance – all observed by the High Priest.

“Done playing house with those superhumans, so now you come for me?”

“Today I’ll kill you to avenge my brothers!” The director’s eyes burned with rage – too many comrades had fallen to the High Priest.

The director hadn’t risen to his position through Turning Stone to Gold or political maneuvering, but through unrivaled strength.

Yet the High Priest scoffed: “When the bureau has no real talent, even fools become heroes. With just one superpower, you dare boast before me?”

The director wasted no more words. A razor-thin water jet shot from his fingertip – sharper than any industrial cutter, capable of splitting diamonds.

As a fifth-tier water-series superhuman, this was his signature move.

Space distorted around the High Priest, bending the water jet harmlessly past him to pierce through walls.

“Don’t embarrass yourself with such pathetic attacks.”

The director clenched his fist, attempting to extract all moisture from the High Priest’s body – a technique that had left countless superhumans as desiccated corpses.

The High Priest merely chuckled, completely unfazed.

Shock flashed across the director’s face. The High Priest’s physical body was terrifyingly resilient, locking every drop of moisture securely within.

With a casual leap, the High Priest closed the distance. His uppercut sent the director spinning through the air. Only a last-second water barrier prevented the punch from being fatal.

“How? Your body… it’s impossible!” The brief exchange revealed the High Priest’s mastery of enhancement-series abilities.

“You’ve always underestimated enhancement-series superhumans, thinking distance was protection. I trained mine from the beginning. Now I don’t even know if I’m sixth or seventh tier.”

Believing this to be bluster, the director summoned high-speed water wheels in both hands and slashed at the High Priest – who didn’t bother dodging. The attacks didn’t even tear his clothes.

“Can’t even break my superpower-enhanced garments.”

Another punch landed in the director’s stomach, forcing him to vomit bile and stomach acid.

Disappointed, the High Priest shook his head. Was this supposedly the strongest superhuman?

Losing interest, he thrust out a palm, creating an air wall with crushing force capable of flattening victims into paste!

Peng Lianghai and Shao Junyi shut their eyes, dreading the gruesome fate awaiting them. Leaving behind even scraps of flesh would be fortunate.

The air wall collided with an invisible mountain, unable to advance another inch.

“Pathetic. Jiang Li slapping the back of my head hits harder than this.”

A lazy voice sounded beside them as Bai Hongtu appeared, yawning. A casual breath dispersed the air wall.

“Though I’ve seen you with spiritual sense, this is our first proper meeting.”

Not just Bai Hongtu – Jiang Li materialized too, casually eating candied hawthorns. The pair had been strolling through the capital when they sensed disturbances at Capital University. Arriving instantly, they’d watched the director’s beating play out before intervening.

“Thank you both for saving us.”

The director now understood the insurmountable gap between himself and the High Priest. Gathering Peng Lianghai and Shao Junyi, he quickly retreated.

Jiang Li and Bai Hongtu stood casually, showing no battle readiness. Yet this very nonchalance made the High Priest break out in cold sweat.

He controlled nearly every superpower, having mastered all ninety-eight space-series abilities to at least fifth tier, with clairvoyance reaching sixth tier. Yet he still couldn’t comprehend how these two had arrived.

And what did Jiang Li mean by “seeing him with spiritual sense”? Had he been under surveillance without knowing? The thought chilled him – such methods were terrifying beyond imagination.
