Chapter 467: Promotion

Li Er walked out from the side, deep in thought: “So that means my surname is Li. Does that mean I’m supposed to be the Tree God?”

The Wishful Gourd also spoke: “My surname is Wishful. Does that mean I’m called… oh no, the full name is Wishful Gourd, it can’t be split. I don’t have a surname.”

Jiang Li didn’t know if this man and the gourd were truly that silly or just pretending: “Currently, we are in the initial promotion phase. We don’t need to showcase too many divine miracles; the main purpose is to let people know the River God exists.”

Li Er hesitated: “Right now, we don’t have enough manpower. It’s hard to perform miracles everywhere, so the promotion will be quite slow.”

Jiang Li thought Li Er’s worry was unnecessary: “Do you really think I can’t even manage something as simple as creating millions of incarnations?”

As he spoke, Jiang Li split into countless clones and disappeared.

“My incarnations are now rushing to various rivers. After tonight, all rivers will have my presence—oh, except the sewers.”

Li Er was stunned. Others might not understand how complex the magic behind this was, but he knew that creating millions of incarnations was a skill only top-tier immortals could wield.

Sometimes Li Er wondered if he was truly only one level below Jiang Li, because it didn’t feel that way at all.

“I’ll go to the Elven Forest to promote the River God to the Human Sovereign!” The Wishful Gourd volunteered, its yellow skin turning red with excitement.

Jiang Li pulled the Wishful Gourd back: “We don’t need to worry too much about the Elven Forest; the Elven Queen will assist us. As for the Beast Nation…”

“I’ll go to the Beast Nation!” Li Er took responsibility and actively claimed the task.

“And me, I’ll go too.” The Wishful Gourd, just as excited as Li Er, thought that if they couldn’t go to the Elven Forest, the Beast Nation was a good alternative.

Seeing the enthusiasm of this man and gourd, Jiang Li felt very gratified: “Then you two, along with the Unicorn, will promote the River God in the Beast Nation. Lance and I will stay in the Holy Empire.”

The Unicorn in humanoid form had horns on its head, which was not a problem—after all, in the Beast Nation, many beastfolk retained animal features on parts of their bodies.

…

The legend of the River God gradually spread throughout the Elven Forest, the Beast Nation, and the Human-established Holy Empire. People began to realize that the River God was not a fabricated myth but truly existed and was omnipotent.

The incident of dropping axes couldn’t happen every day, so Jiang Li, as the River God, needed other ways to demonstrate his greatness.

The river’s surface shimmered with golden light as the River God appeared.

Someone knelt before the River God: “Great River God, please grant me a child.”

“…” Jiang Li felt this request was beyond his ability.

But as a deity, especially the deity of the Primordial River, it wouldn’t do to lose face by being unable to grant such a wish.

Jiang Li secretly contacted the Ma Zhuo couple and asked them to prepare some virility prescriptions, then contacted Su Wei, the head of the Alchemy Peak, to modify the prescriptions so they could be used in the Ayla World.

When Su Wei saw the Ma Zhuo couple’s prescriptions, she was amazed, thinking the couple were hidden alchemy prodigies. They had created such a unique virility formula from different angles.

Jiang Li knew that this couple’s talent for anything related to childbirth was terrifyingly high.

“Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; teach him to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime. Take these medicines according to the prescription, and you will be blessed with many children and good fortune.”

The man thanked the River God and left.

Seeing the man leave with a joyful smile, people came forward to ask about the situation.

“So it really is a true deity! I went to the church to pray for a child, and the priest said he could help. But compared to the church, the River God is more reliable.”

Someone raised doubts: “But as a deity, just appearing right before us and granting wishes—doesn’t it feel less powerful than the mysterious Seven Great Deities?”

Others scoffed at this doubt: “Do you really think this is the true form of the deity? Impossible. The River God’s true form sleeps in the Primordial River. This is just a thought of the deity.”

“When the River God has a thought, there is an incarnation. I heard the empire is filled with the River God’s presence.”

“Not just the empire, merchants say the Beast Nation and Elven Forest also have the River God’s presence.”

“The River God has so many incarnations!”

…

“Great River God, I hope my child can become a great hero, but I worry about him getting hurt in the dungeon. Do you have any advice?”

“Mother, you only need to soak your child in river water, and your child will grow strong and healthy.”

The mother happily grabbed her child’s ankle and dipped him into the river water.

Lance curiously asked, “Have you chosen a name for your child?”

“His name is Achilles.”

…

“Great River God, I am a mage who always likes close combat. My teammates aren’t happy, but I can’t learn melee skills. Can you make me a warrior?” The mage put down his thousand-pound staff and made his wish to the River God.

Mages can cast spells on themselves to strengthen their bodies to rival warriors.

Sustained magic requires constant mana consumption, so this fighting style isn’t long-lasting. Usually, mages only do this when forced into close combat.

The River God looked kindly: “My child, gods are all-powerful. Of course, I can help you become a warrior. But you still carry the skills bestowed by the Light God and others, which conflict with my powers. You must completely abandon your faith in them to receive the skills I grant.”

The mage was straightforward and immediately gave up all his skills.

The River God exerted divine power, touching the mage’s forehead, helping him draw in qi and become a Qi Refining stage cultivator.

The River God also gave the mage a physical cultivation manual and some resources to practice.

“The skills given by the Light God are too much of a shortcut, an abnormal path. Cultivate according to this method, and you will see results within ten days.”

The mage was overjoyed. The moment he became a Qi Refining stage cultivator, he felt he had become a warrior. Naturally, he believed the River God’s words without doubt.

“After I become a warrior, what weapon should I use?” The mage glanced at his cranial-opening staff and muttered softly, “Maybe I should switch to a heavier staff.”

…

The Wishful Gourd, as the River God’s spokesperson, devotedly promoted the River God’s greatness, attracting the beastfolk.

“What? You want to learn time magic? That’s easy for the River God.”

“Don’t disbelieve. Do you know the River God is not just the god of the Primordial River? Have you heard of the River of Time? The River God is also its deity.”

“The River God roams the River of Time and is the only god throughout all history. It is the beginning and the end. The Light God, who governs light, is just a false god before the River God.”

The Wishful Gourd spoke without filtering its words, since Jiang Li was responsible for granting wishes, it was just doing the promotion.

When believers came to it wanting to learn time magic, Jiang Li even wanted to tear the Wishful Gourd apart.

You want to learn time magic?
