Chapter 693: I Won’t Even Stay in the Human Sovereign Hall—Why Would I Come Here to Be Your Council President?

Since its construction, the Gaia computer had never made a single error. No one ever questioned the calculated Personal Value.

In the Truth World, the Gaia computer was synonymous with fairness. Some even proposed abolishing the courts and transferring judicial power to the Gaia computer.

“If the Gaia computer isn’t wrong, then do I really have to retire?” The Council President opened his authority list to find many permissions frozen.

This was to prevent the current Council President from harming the acting Council President.

“Check Jiang Li’s identity information.”

“Oh, so Jiang Li is only one day old… one day old?!” The Council President stared at Jiang Li’s personal information displayed by the Gaia computer, his eyes nearly popping out.

“Retrieve Jiang Li’s growth history.”

The Council President saw that Jiang Li and the other two had abruptly appeared in the Truth World, with no prior records about any of them.

The Council President remained silent for a long time before standing up, deciding to see these three people.

…

“Congratulations, Jiang Li! You can just relax and be the acting Council President in this world. I’ll go back and inherit the position of Human Sovereign.” Bai Hongtu cried with genuine emotion, the smile at the corner of his mouth completely unstoppable.

Yu Yin spoke up from the side, “Bai Hongtu, wanting to become Human Sovereign won’t be that easy for you. I’ll compete with you.”

Jiang Li: “…”

Only now did he realize that Yu Yin’s desire to become Human Sovereign was no less than Bai Hongtu’s.

“Don’t even think about it. I’m not going to be any Council President in this world.”

“What a shame.”

Two voices spoke simultaneously.

In the past, only Bai Hongtu would say “what a shame” in such situations. Now Yu Yin had joined him.

Yu Yin quickly covered her mouth. She had said too many things she kept hidden in her heart while in the Truth World.

Frustrated, Yu Yin secretly stomped her foot. How exactly did the Truth World manage to force people to speak the truth!

The Wishful Gourd’s ill-timed voice chimed in, “I knew it! Human Sovereign Jiang doesn’t even stay in the Human Sovereign Hall, skipping work every day. Why would he become Council President in this world?”

Though it spoke the truth, Jiang Li still glared angrily at this talkative gourd.

The staff member who saw Jiang Li’s Personal Value felt his heart trembling.

A Personal Value sufficient to become the new Council President—this wouldn’t leave anyone calm. Why did these three people before him show no sign of taking it seriously?

“Are you three Mr. Jiang Li, Mr. Bai Hongtu, and Ms. Yu Yin?”

A neatly dressed middle-aged man approached, wearing a friendly smile on his face.

“Let me introduce myself. I am the Council President of the Truth World.”

The Council President said to the staff member, “I have some matters to discuss with these three. Please return to your post.”

The staff member blurted out, “But my job is to test Personal Value right here.”

“… I mean you should go to the front desk to receive other people.”

“Oh.”

The staff member obediently left. As he walked out of the testing room, he saw the bodyguards the Council President had brought.

As the person with the second-highest Personal Value, the Council President would certainly not act alone.

“So it’s true that meeting the Council President requires a Personal Value over one thousand. What does the Council President want to discuss with us?” Jiang Li asked with a smile.

The Council President answered truthfully, “I don’t know where you three actually come from, why Mr. Jiang Li’s Personal Value is so high, and whether Mr. Jiang Li has any intention of assuming the Council President position?”

The Council President noticed Jiang Li had just said the words “so it’s true,” confirming his suspicion that Jiang Li and the others came from another world. In the Truth World, no one would use words composed of “true” or “false.”

Jiang Li explained, “The three of us come from the Nine Provinces World. We heard the Truth World forces people to speak only the truth. Out of curiosity, we decided to form a team and come here to mutually harm each other.”

“Later we discovered your Truth World has this concept of Personal Value, so we wanted to see what it was about and what our Personal Values were.”

“I never expected my Personal Value to be a bit too high, and the Gaia computer directly listed me as acting Council President.”

“Council President, please rest assured. I won’t stay long in your world, much less replace your work as Council President.”

“What a shame. No hope for retirement.” The Council President sighed. Due to genetic modifications, he appeared as a middle-aged man, though he was actually eighty years old, just reaching retirement age.

“I wonder what the world you come from is like. Could you tell me about it?”

The Council President deliberately added the latter half when asking his question. Without that part, it would sound like an interrogation, forcing the other party to answer and easily leaving a bad impression.

“Of course we can. Actually, we were just about to mention this matter.”

Jiang Li followed the usual practice of explaining the Nine Provinces’ origins and their policy toward the myriad heavens and worlds: “I am the Human Sovereign of the Nine Provinces World…”

“… Whether to establish diplomatic relations with other worlds is the right of the Truth World. The Nine Provinces respects every world and won’t interfere with your world’s choices.”

The Council President looked at Jiang Li in surprise, never expecting the other party to also be a world leader, and one far more powerful than their Truth World.

“No wonder the Gaia computer’s Personal Value assessment of you stated you could lead our world into an extraordinary era.”

“I never imagined that another civilization I encountered would be one so fond of peace.”

“As technology developed, exploring the universe became a commonplace matter. The world’s unsolved mysteries grew fewer, and among those mysteries was whether other civilizations existed.”

“Our scientists made many speculations about other civilizations. Some viewpoints believed civilizations must inevitably oppose each other—once discovered, it would be a life-or-death situation.”

“Other viewpoints believed civilizations could communicate with each other, but civilizations proposing communication must have strong confidence in their own strength.”

“Now it seems the Nine Provinces civilization you three belong to is the latter.”

“As for the Immortal Realm conspiracy you mentioned, could it be that our world being forced to speak only the truth is the Immortal Realm’s conspiracy?”

Bai Hongtu shook his head, denying the Council President’s speculation. “No. If the timeline recorded in your history books is correct, then your world began speaking only the truth long before the Immortal Realm executed its conspiracy.”

“Could you let us see the Gaia computer?” Jiang Li asked.

“Ordinary people certainly couldn’t, but Mr. Jiang Li naturally can. Mr. Jiang Li’s Personal Value has been recognized by the Gaia computer, granting him the same authority as me—to go anywhere and access any confidential materials.”

The Council President led the three to a heavily guarded secret base.

“Are these soldiers robots?” Jiang Li noticed that the army guarding the Gaia computer was a robotic force.

“Gongshu, the engineer who built the Gaia computer, believed the Gaia computer’s temptation was too great. Compared to humans, robots were safer.”

“So while constructing the Gaia computer, Mr. Gongshu also built intelligent robots.”

“The Gaia computer and its supporting robots are products that transcend their time. We still cannot replicate them to this day.”

“This way, please.”
