Chapter 1846: 1843: Tomboy!
Chapter 1846: Chapter 1843: Tomboy!
Compared to the Spiritual Academy, the Physical College is much more packed.
After all, compared to the Spiritual Academy, the threshold for the Physical College is much lower.
If the Spiritual Academy is likened to top universities like 211 or 985, then the Physical College is an ordinary undergraduate institution.
Moreover, most who come to the Physical College are male.
Of course, there are also a few female strongmen.
On the open ground of the square, three stone weights are arrayed from small to large.
They are respectively labeled 600 bull, 1000 bull, 1500 bull.
Two examiners surveyed the examinees below, pointed to the three different graded stone weights before them, and said:
“Anyone who can lift the 600 bull will become an outer disciple of our Imperial College. Lifting 1000 bull will qualify you as an inner disciple, and 1500 bull will make you a Core Disciple!”
The bull is the unit of strength here, and in conversion, one bull equals 100 kilograms.
Thus, 600 bull is equivalent to 60,000 kilograms, or 60 tons.
An adult African elephant weighs around 10 tons, meaning you’d need to be able to lift at least 6 adult African elephants just to qualify as a disciple of the Imperial College.
Moreover, that’s just the lowest rank of outer disciple.
“I’ll go!”
At this moment, a broad-backed man strode forth confidently.
He first walked to the stone weight marked 600 bull, took a long deep breath, and then suddenly lifted it up.
As the 600 bull stone weight was lifted overhead, a thunderous applause erupted from below.
The examiner nodded in satisfaction at this sight, pointed at the 1000 bull stone weight, and asked, “Brave man, would you like to try the 1000 bull?”
“Of course!”
The burly man replied cheerfully and went to the 1000 bull stone weight.
He first spat firmly into his palm and rubbed his hands vigorously.
Then, he bent down, grabbed the stone weight with full force.
“Hey oh, hey oh!”
The strong man’s face turned as red as a beet, yet he could merely raise the stone weight to his neck and could not lift it overhead.
After several attempts, realizing he truly couldn’t lift it overhead, he reluctantly let it down heavily.
“Alas, such a pity. You can only become an outer disciple, but if you work hard, there’s plenty of opportunity to enter the inner courtyard!”
As the examiner spoke, he handed over a waist tag with the outer disciple emblem.
Afterward, over a hundred people were tested.
Yet only a scant few managed to lift the 600 bull stone weight.
Only one person could move the 1000 bull stone weight.
As for the 1500 bull stone weight, it remained firmly in place like Tai Mountain.
Unconsciously, the sun had already set in the west.
“It seems there’s no one today who can lift that 1500 bull stone weight!”
“1500 bull, enough to smash a small mountain. Such immense power, only those with Innate Divine Strength can lift it!”
…
“Let me try!”
Just as the crowd was whispering, a very slender woman gracefully walked forward.
Seeing her, everyone present couldn’t help but be stunned.
“Oh my, it’s a woman!”
The woman bowed to the examiners.
“Aqing greets the two mentors!”
Body Refinement cultivators are predominantly male, and even if there are women, they are mostly broad-backed female warriors.
But a woman like Aqing, with such a slender figure and delicate appearance, was indeed a first.
The examiner was momentarily taken aback, pointed at the three stone weights in front, and asked, “Aqing, which stone weight would you like to challenge?”
Aqing raised her proud little head, directly bypassed the 600 bull and 1000 bull stone weights, and landed her gaze on the 1500 bull stone weight.
“Unquestionably, the 1500 bull of course!”
After saying this, she proceeded towards the 1500 bull stone weight.
“No way, she really intends to challenge the 1500 bull stone weight?”
“You’re kidding, even many Innate Divine Strength warriors have failed the challenge. How could she possibly…”
Before these people finished their sentence, Aqing suddenly exerted force and lifted the 1500 bull stone weight high up.
As she lifted it past her neck, she clearly struggled somewhat.
Yet her stance remained steady.
Half a minute after the stone weight became level with her snow-white neck, she took a deep breath determinedly, gritted her teeth, and lifted it over her head.
Seeing this young woman really lift the 1500 bull stone weight overhead, everyone present, including the two examiners, was rendered dumbstruck in disbelief.
Many even rubbed their eyes vigorously, for even when witnessing it firsthand, the situation seemed too incredible to believe.
Li Chen found this outcome rather unexpected.
Thus, he couldn’t help but take another look at Aqing.
As he glanced toward Aqing, her gaze also turned in his direction.
When their eyes met, Aqing unexpectedly gave a provocative look.
This was something Li Chen couldn’t tolerate.
“This is the emblem of a Core Disciple, please keep it!”
The examiner handed over a finely carved waist tag.
Aqing received the waist tag with both hands, full of joy, and bowed saying, “Thank you, mentor!”
The examiner nodded in satisfaction.
Afterward, he directed his gaze below again.
“It’s almost dark; does anyone else want to take the assessment today?”
Li Chen looked up at the sky, noting it was indeed getting late, then strode forward.
“I’ll go!”
He subsequently walked ahead under the watchful eyes of the crowd.
Li Chen didn’t rush to the highest level 1500 bull stone weight like Aqing.
He first approached the 600 bull stone weight, warmed up as if preparing for a weightlifting match, and readied himself to stretch out and lift it.
However, to his great surprise, the stone weight felt nowhere near 600 bull, it was akin to a child’s toy, effortlessly lifted.
Seeing this, Aqing’s eyes flickered with a hint of disdain.
Ignoring Aqing’s disdainful glance altogether, Li Chen proceeded directly to the 1000 bull stone weight.
Originally thinking the 1000 bull stone weight, being near double the weight of the 600 bull, would be somewhat challenging.
Yet ultimately, it remained like a child’s toy, without a bit of challenge.
Witnessing this, everyone present turned their heads.
Even Aqing regarded Li Chen more seriously.
Though she could easily lift the 1000 bull stone weight, it wouldn’t be as effortless as Li Chen made it seem.
The examiner Guo Da’s eyes brightened, asking eagerly, “Young man, with your Innate Divine Strength, would you like to try the 1500 bull stone weight?”
