Chapter 568: A sudden call

Boom!

As soon as Teacher Xu finished speaking, a sort of explosion took place inside the staff room.

“A serious demerit?” Yun Xirou gasped, her head snapping toward the head teacher of her class.

“Not only that,” Teacher Xu added coldly, pulling out her official student file and writing in bold, black ink across the permanent record book. “I am recording this incident directly into your permanent behavioural report card, and when the university entrance exams happen, this will reflect in your report card!”

“No! You cannot do that!” Yun Xirou shrieked, her voice cracking as sheer panic seized her chest. A major disciplinary record on her permanent file meant that her chances of getting accepted into a top university would be destroyed! No university would accept her after seeing the record in her file. “Teacher Xu, please! I am sorry about this matter. I promise that I will change and will never do such a thing. My parents want me to get into a big university. A mark like that can ruin me completely!”

“You should have thought about the consequences before you made such serious claims. Jianyou is lucky that his sister came to the school and even explained the matter to me properly; if not, you lot would have succeeded in ruining his good name and hard work. Did you even think about what would happen to Han Jianyou if I believed your words and punished him? He would have lost his place in the mathematics competition and our trust as well.”

“You almost ruined a good student!”

Teacher Xu was really angry. He glared at Yun Xirou as if she had killed his ancestors. And she had almost done that. If he punished Han Jianyou and later found out that he was such a skilled student, then there was a good chance that the school would have fired him. “Now please–”

“One second, teacher Xu,” Han Ruochen spoke up just as the man was about to send Yun Xirou away. “She has ruined my brother’s reputation, and even if this matter is sorted out, the students outside would definitely discuss the matter of his cheating because I don’t believe that these students kept this matter to themselves. Since that is the case, I suggest that they apologise to my brother at the morning assembly. It is time for the college entrance exams, and it is a sensitive time.”

“After handling this issue, you already know that my brother has quite a complicated personality. If he gets hurt by the words of the students and his performance is affected, who will be responsible for it? So it is better to deal with this matter before it causes any more trouble. Ask these students to apologise in the morning assembly tomorrow.”

Han Ruochen did not want to be too harsh on these kids, but who asked them to cause trouble for her brother? It was good enough that she was not slapping these idiots in the face with her shoe.

“Why!?” Yun Xirou could not help but cry out loud. “We have already received a serious demerit, so why won’t you let us go?”

Han Ruochen sneered and calmly replied, “Who asked you to have bad scores? If you were as talented as my brother, then you would not have reduced yourself to lying and scheming. Just because you got a bad score, you actually did such a thing. I am embarrassed on your behalf!”

Han Ruochen did not want to be this harsh, but Yun Xirou was adamant about not leaving any face for herself, so who could she blame but herself? Certainly not her.

Tears of rage and humiliation pooled inside Yun Xirou’s eyes. She wanted to scratch that smug look off Han Ruochen’s face. Something about this woman just made her hate Han Ruochen and Han Jianyou; in fact, she had a feeling that if it were someone else from the Han family, she would have hated them too. “You—”

“I will leave this matter in your care, Teacher Xu.” Han Ruochen did not want to waste her time quibbling with Yun Xirou. She paid Han Jianyou’s camp fees and then said, “I am taking Jianyou with me; today’s ordeal has been hard on him. It is better for him to take the rest of the day off.” She knew that after what happened, Han Jianyou would not have the heart to talk or study. Anyway, her brother was smart; as long as he was willing to work hard, he could learn what the teachers had taught with just one look at the notes.

And her brother was quite popular in the class.

Someone would eventually give him the notes.

Teacher Xu wanted to stop her, but then he swallowed his words. He thought of how he had questioned Han Jianyou and made him feel small, and nodded. “Alright, let him take the rest of the day off.”

Han Ruochen took Han Jianyou out of the office and patted him on the back. “Jianyou, you do not have to be scared in such a situation. Nor do you need to go quiet. Not everyone is like our mother, who would not listen to you. If you are in the right, then you need to explain the matter. Your teacher is right about one thing: that you are lucky that I came on time. What if I had not arrived? You would have been proven guilty!”

“If you face such a situation again, make sure that you fight for your case. If you do not speak, then no one will be able to understand that you are being framed. If someone lies, then you need to speak the truth even louder. Because while lying is a sin, not fighting for yourself when you are right is an even bigger sin!” As she spoke she could not help but smack Han Jianyou on the back of his head.

“Why did you not speak up? What if this matter was even more serious? Like a woman framing you for ruining her reputation? Would you have stayed quiet and let her take you to the police station? If no one fights for you, then you need to fight for yourself—”

“Stop right there!”
