Chapter 569: The Main Architect

The screeching voice made the two of them pause. They turned and looked at Yun Xirou, who was running toward the two of them. Her hair was dishevelled, and her face was red and blotchy from crying. She sprinted across the path and threw herself in front of Han Jianyou and Han Ruochen.

“You monsters! You two are absolute monsters!” Yun Xirou screamed like a shrew. She pointed a trembling finger at the two of them and cried, “You have ruined my life! Do you even have the slightest bit of idea what the two of you have done to me? You have caused me extreme pain and distress because of your selfishness!”

“Enough!” Class Monitor Liu, who was in charge of bringing the students back, walked over in a hurry. Earlier, he was startled when Yun Xirou ran away without saying anything; he was worried that she might do something terrifying, but who would have expected that, despite being in the wrong, she would have such thick skin that she would actually come over to question Han Ruochen and Han Jianyou?

Did she even realise the things that she had done were not something that one could forgive and forget? Everyone knew how important the college entrance exams were; if Han Jianyou was any unluckier, he would be the one being punished and that too without doing anything. And yet Yun Xirou felt that she was the victim.

He just could not accept her attitude!

He eyed Yun Xirou with a look of great distaste, as he disliked everyone who caused trouble for studious students. “Stop causing a fuss here! Student Yun, everyone heard what happened in the staff room, and we know that it was your fault that such a thing happened. You cannot blame anyone after what happened. Instead of blaming Comrade Han, you should pay more attention to yourself and learn how to properly conduct yourself.”

Liu Ming knew that Yun Xirou was spoiled, but he never thought that she was beyond unreasonable. Just looking at her shameless actions made him feel like there was something wrong with the Yun family. How could they raise their daughter into such a selfish person? She was angry because she got her comeuppance, but Liu Ming had a sick feeling that if Han Jianyou was the one in trouble right now, Yun Xirou would have cheered and caused a huge fuss.

“Shut up! This has nothing to do with you!” Yun Xirou sobbed hysterically, glaring at Han Ruochen, Han Jianyou and Liu Ming. “Han Ruochen! You are really terrible. I know that I did something wrong, but how could you do such a terrible thing? Do you even know how much I have lost and how hard I have worked to get into a decent university? Now, because of your petty and unforgiving attitude, Teacher Xu has put a permanent stain on my entire file! Because of you, I will never be able to get into my dream university. My future was ruined by you and your useless brother! I hope that you are happy about it!”

Han Ruochen arched her brow. She did not show any anger, nor did she raise her voice. Instead, she slowly turned around and looked at the woman. Her pitch-black eyes were calm and terrifyingly cold—like an endless abyss staring down at Yun Xirou. Her gaze was so scary that it made Yun Xirou tremble with fright. She even took a step back because she was worried that Han Ruochen would slap her in the face again.

“Ruined your life?” Han Ruochen spoke, her voice dropping into a razor-sharp whisper that chilled Yun Xirou to the bone. “Who was the one who gathered accomplices out of petty jealousy? Who was the one who lied to the teachers to strip an innocent boy of his hard-earned success? Who decided that her own insecurity gave her the right to destroy someone’s dignity?”

“My brother has worked hard to reach the second rank. Do you even know how hard he worked to get where he is at the moment? No, you only wanted to cause trouble for him because you were jealous! This is not us ruining you. This is your comeuppance.”

Han Ruochen leaned down slightly, her icy gaze locking directly into Yun Xirou’s trembling eyes.

“Listen to me carefully; my brother worked when you were going out shopping and having fun. Night after Night. You think that it was my brother and I who caused you to be ruined like this, but the truth is different. It was you who ruined yourself. It was neither I nor my brother, and certainly not Teacher Xu, who ruined you. It was you who caused your own demise.”

“Who asked you to be jealous? Who asked you to lie? Why did you have to choose malice over integrity? If your future was destroyed, then it was you who was the architect of your demise. Do not blame me or anyone else when the fault lies with you.”

Yun Xirou froze. Even though what Han Ruochen said was harsh and brutal, it was the truth, and the truth pierced straight through her pathetic defence, leaving her completely exposed and defenceless. She opened her mouth to argue, but no words came out. The sheer weight of Han Ruochen’s words and her own foolishness crashed down on her all at once.

“Let’s go, Jianyou.” Having said what she wanted to say, Han Ruochen turned on her heel and walked away with Han Jianyou. As for Yun Xirou, she didn’t care about that girl in the least. She could do whatever she wanted, but with her by Han Jianyou’s side, she would love to see what Yun Xirou could do!

Han Jianyou, who had been holding on till now, burst into tears and could not help but say, “Second Sister, I will work harder. I promise that I will come number one in the entire city and slap everyone in the face who said that I cheated.” His sister had fought for him and stood up against everyone just to clear his name; Han Jianyou would never let her down. From now on, he will only work even harder!

When Han Ruochen heard his words, she reached out and patted him on the head. “Alright, sister, wait for the good news.”
