Chapter 226: Will Not Forgive

Chapter 226: Chapter 225: Will Not Forgive

Next Tuesday is National Day. According to the hospital’s holiday schedule, this Sunday was a workday to make up for the following Friday.

Early Sunday morning, Yu Zhiming arrived at the hospital, ready to start the day’s complimentary physical exams.

He walked into the main office and saw Zhou Mo carefully wiping down the jade plant on his desk.

He had to admit, after a long day’s work, looking up to see this lush, vibrant plant really did soothe his nerves.

Yu Zhiming couldn’t help but ask worriedly, “Oh no, I won’t be able to take care of it for five or six days. Do you think it will die?”

“Should I take it home first?”

Zhou Mo chuckled softly. “There are still colleagues on duty. Someone will be in the center every day. We can just ask them to look after it once in a while.”

Yu Zhiming said, “Oh,” and then casually asked, “Any plans to relax or travel for National Day?”

Zhou Mo sighed softly. “My mom’s business is busiest during National Day. I have to go help her. There’s no time to go on vacation.”

Hearing this, Yu Zhiming remembered that Zhou Mo’s mother made traditional Chinese wedding attire.

Naturally, her shop got busier the closer it was to a holiday.

Yu Zhiming couldn’t help but think of Yao Chengyun, the bride-to-be who had been poisoned but insisted on keeping her baby.

“Have you heard any recent news about Yao Chengyun?”

Zhou Mo shook her head. “We haven’t had any contact since she picked up her custom-made wedding dress.”

“Maybe she went back to her hometown to recover. Didn’t they say she needed six months to a year to recuperate?”

Yu Zhiming said slowly, “She insisted on having the baby, so her recovery time is uncertain.”

’I wonder how the fetus is developing?’

Just then, a pretty young female doctor in a white coat with her hair in a ponytail came to the entrance of the main office and gently knocked on the open door.

“Dr. Yu, good morning!”

Yu Zhiming looked up and found the young doctor’s face somewhat familiar.

“Good morning. Can I help you?”

The young doctor took a step closer and introduced herself, “Hello, Dr. Yu. I’m Bao Wan, a resident physician.”

“We both came to the hospital to register on the same day. We met once outside the Human Resources office.”

“Do you remember, Dr. Yu?”

Now that she mentioned it, Yu Zhiming did recall.

On the day he registered, he had seen two men and a woman who were also there to complete their onboarding procedures.

At the time, those three had looked down on him.

Things were different now, and of course, Yu Zhiming wouldn’t hold a grudge over something so trivial.

He also found it a little strange that he hadn’t seen the three of them since that day.

But then again, the hospital had three or four thousand employees. Yu Zhiming had only been working here for two months, so it was perfectly normal that there were many people he hadn’t met.

He gave Bao Wan a slight smile and said, “I remember now. Dr. Bao, is there something I can help you with?”

Bao Wan bowed slightly. “Dr. Yu, first, I need to apologize. I was blind and failed to recognize your greatness back then.”

Her apology was sincere.

’If she could turn back time, she would have clung to Yu Zhiming’s leg, sung “Conquer,” and called him “Daddy.”’

Who would have thought that Yu Zhiming, a graduate of a third-rate medical school, would prove himself in just one short month and leap to become a star in the national medical community?

Not only that, but he had also thoroughly embarrassed Bao Wan’s alma mater, Jingda Hospital.

’But alas, there’s no medicine for regret in this world.’

Bao Wan looked at Yu Zhiming nervously, only to see him chuckle and wave his hand dismissively.

“It was a small thing, and it’s all in the past. Don’t worry about it. Dr. Bao, you can just tell me why you’re here.”

Bao Wan said carefully, “Dr. Yu, it’s like this. My parents are coming to Binhai to see me during the National Day holiday, and they’ll be sightseeing for a few days.”

“My parents are getting older and have some chronic health issues. I was hoping you could give them a check-up, Dr. Yu.”

“I just don’t know if it would be convenient for you, Dr. Yu.”

Yu Zhiming thought about his schedule.

The appointment for the brother of Zeng Yan’s classmate, the one who might be experiencing cognitive decline, was scheduled for the sixth of next month.

“I’ll be here on the morning of the sixth.”

Bao Wan’s face lit up with a pleasant surprise. “Dr. Yu, so I can bring my parents over on the morning of October sixth?”

Yu Zhiming nodded lightly.

“Dr. Yu, thank you! Thank you so much…”

At eight-thirty in the morning, the complimentary physical exams at Huashan Hospital began on time, and Yu Zhiming dove into his busy workday…

A little after ten-thirty in the morning, Zhou Mo was sitting behind a small, temporary desk in the hallway to the left of the exam room. She took an ID card from a man in his sixties and carefully checked it against the appointment list.

The list had been emailed to Zhou Mo the previous night by the director’s secretary, He Yingjun, after he had finalized the day’s appointments and their order.

Zhou Mo’s job was to stay by the exam room door, maintain order, and verify the identity of each person one by one.

Zhou Mo glanced at the name on the ID, then at the old man’s face, and drew a check mark next to the corresponding name on her list.

She handed the ID card back to the man and pointed to the two-person line to the right of the door, saying politely, “Uncle Xu, please take your ID and get in line over there.”

Just then, another ID card was handed to her.

Zhou Mo took the ID and glanced at the person in front of her.

She immediately handed the ID back with a faint smile. “Ma’am, you can’t have someone else take the exam for you. The person themselves needs to be here.”

The person who took the ID back was a thin woman in her fifties with heavy makeup and curly, wine-red hair.

She raised an eyebrow and said coldly, “What’s with your eyes? I am the person, and this is my ID.”

“Just hurry up and check the box.”

Zhou Mo’s smile vanished. She said slowly, “Ma’am, if I remember correctly, your surname is Bai, isn’t it?”

“It’s been a little over a month. Have you changed your surname to Guo?”

The woman, Aunt Bai, looked embarrassed. Realizing she’d been recognized, she quickly lowered her voice.

“Young lady, why do you have to be so serious?”

“It’s just that the person herself had something come up and couldn’t make it today. When it’s her turn for the exam, she can come and take my place.”

“We’re both qualified for the exam, I’m not lying to you.”

Zhou Mo chuckled. “Aunt Bai, if I can recognize you, how could Dr. Yu possibly forget you?”

“Aunt Bai, you should just go home!”

This woman, Bai Shulan, was the very person who had infuriated Yu Zhiming with her malicious gossip on the first day of the complimentary physicals.

At that time, Yu Zhiming was caught in a storm of public opinion over an accusation of sexual misconduct, a target of universal condemnation.

Yu Zhiming had been enduring the pressure to perform their physicals, but not only was this woman unsympathetic, she had mocked him, deliberately striking at his sore spot.

As a result, an enraged Yu Zhiming had decisively kicked the woman out of the line…

Now, over a month later, many people in Bai Shulan’s circle had received a physical from Yu Zhiming.

Some of their ailments were discovered, leading to diagnoses and targeted treatments, and their health improved significantly.

This made Bai Shulan anxious.

She tried contacting the director’s secretary, He Yingjun, but he kept giving her the runaround and wouldn’t schedule her for an appointment.

She couldn’t wait any longer, so she found a friend who looked vaguely similar and planned to pull a switch.

“Young lady, doesn’t everyone say that Dr. Yu doesn’t even look at his patients’ faces when he examines them?”

“He just gets straight to the examination.”

Bai Shulan then tried to bribe her, “Young lady, if you let me through this time, how about I treat you to a big dinner tonight?”

Just then, a man’s voice rang out.

“Forget it!”

Bai Shulan looked up to see Yu Zhiming walking out of the exam room.

Bai Shulan’s expression immediately turned awkward.

A moment later, she met Yu Zhiming’s gaze and said, “Dr. Yu, I spoke without thinking that day and offended you.”

“I apologize to you now…”

“I’m sorry, Dr. Yu!”

Yu Zhiming said flatly, “If saying sorry fixed everything, what would we need the police for? I don’t accept your apology.”

“As for this physical, you can forget about it. I’m telling you clearly, I will not examine you.”

His words made Bai Shulan’s anger flare.

However, she also knew that Yu Zhiming was not the same person he was before; he was not someone she could afford to lose her temper with.

Bai Shulan suppressed her anger and said, “Dr. Yu, I’m about the same age as your parents.”

“It was just a few thoughtless words. Why must you hold such a grudge and refuse to let it go?”

“It was just a small mistake, and I’ve already apologized. Do I have to kneel before you’ll forgive me?”

Bai Shulan then turned to the people waiting in line. “Don’t just stand there watching. Help me say a few words.”

When Bai Shulan said this, someone actually looked like they were about to speak, but they swallowed their words when they saw Yu Zhiming’s dark expression, which clearly screamed ’Don’t mess with me.’

The long hallway instantly grew much quieter.

“’Thoughtless words?’ ’Spoke without thinking?’”

Yu Zhiming snorted heavily. He swept his gaze over the ten or twenty people lined up in the hallway and said in a clear voice, “There are some minor offenses that many people commit, which I can laugh off.”

“But…”

He turned back to Bai Shulan and said slowly, “I remember your words from that day as if it were yesterday.”

“They went straight for the jugular, you could say.”

“To say something like that, especially given the circumstances I was in… if it wasn’t a deliberate attack on me, then it was simply pure malice.”

Yu Zhiming raised his voice. “Either way, I will not forgive you.”

“You are now on my blacklist.”

Having said his piece, Yu Zhiming ignored Bai Shulan, turned around, and went back into the exam room to continue his work.

Bai Shulan’s face twisted, and she was about to start cursing when Zhou Mo’s voice drifted over.

“Think before you act.”

“Think about Dr. Yu’s current identity and status. If you make a scene, who do you think will be the one to suffer?”

Bai Shulan opened her mouth but no sound came out. She waved her arms around frantically a few times, then turned and stomped away in a huff…
