Chapter 241: Magic Microscope
Three days later, Ace crawled up from the cold floor of the secret room. A trace of confusion flashed in his eyes, followed by a headache. Walking out of the secret room, he realized three days had passed in the blink of an eye.
After a good while, he broke free from the confused state and remembered the voice heard in the dream.
“Even though I didn’t hear much knowledge, why did I sleep for so long? Is it a problem with the dream bubble method, or is it a side effect of receiving a gift from an otherworldly existence?”
Ace thought for a while and decided not to dwell on these things anymore. He opened the main door of the West Tower.
Bayen had been waiting for a long time. Seeing Ace, he said somewhat anxiously: “Lord Torch-Bearer, the Magic Network has been down for several days. The apprentices are restless and have urged me to report this to you. Do you know when the Magic Network can be restored?”
“My Lord Councilor, ask the apprentices to wait another month. The Magic Network will be repaired.”
Ace looked at the hexagram badge flashing on Bayen’s chest and said with a smile.
The key to solving the paralysis of the Magic Network lay in replenishing a Mirror Image Root Consciousness. Ace’s Dream Clone replaced him to fill the vacancy in the Wizard Subconscious Sea Embryo, merging with the Subconscious Sea.
This alternative merger achieved a win-win situation. Ace had a secret and unbreakable connection with the Subconscious Sea, and the Subconscious Sea had been greatly completed because of this.
As for the Magic Network, he needed to create a dream and use his thoughts to derive a new Dream Clone. Having advanced to the Formal Wizard level, he had a premonition that he could create more than one clone.
If that didn’t work, he could also separate half of all apprentices’ dream spaces to form a public dream space, and then leave a mental imprint of Ace to maintain mechanical operation.
Bayen did not leave after hearing Ace’s answer. Instead, he hesitated for a while. He wasn’t sure if Ace’s promotion was successful, and since it wasn’t announced, he didn’t dare to ask.
However, there was something he believed the time was right for, and he needed to win Ace’s support. He had to brace himself and say to Ace with a serious expression: “I have another important matter to report to you secretly!”
Ace looked at the serious Bayen and nodded. He led Bayen into the West Tower and into a Sealing Room. After the two entered, Ace closed the room and activated the Encryption Seal.
“It is safe here. You may speak.”
Bayen bowed forty-five degrees to Ace, then said: “Lord Ace, about half a year ago, while travelling to the Northern City-States to purchase population and supplies, we accidentally captured several Divine Descendant Nobles who had not undergone Divine Revelation…”
Half a year ago, Milne City-State.
Bayen and others left Milne City with purchased slaves and supplies. They were robbed by a group of bandits on a hill near the coast.
Relying solely on Enchanted Martial Arts and the Soul Spell Enemy Anticipation, Bayen easily fought one against fifty, defeating and capturing the group of bandits.
“Just when we were short of experimental subjects, people rushed to deliver themselves to our door. According to territory law, these people are Sin-bearing Slaves. One experimental subject can sell for three Lesser Mana Stones.”
Because the number of experimental subjects was limited, but many magic experiments had to use humans, the price of legal experimental subjects was not cheap.
If not using the Lesser Mana Stone Conversion Magic Array under the Magic Castle, an ordinary Mid-level Apprentice would take a month to convert three Lesser Mana Stones.
The Lesser Mana Stone Conversion Magic Array could produce one or two pieces a day, but there were too many Wizard Apprentices. It was only allowed for currently enrolled apprentices to use, and the number of times was limited.
Knowledge related to Magic Arrays could only be exchanged with Academic Points after becoming an Advanced Apprentice. Moreover, only Advanced Apprentices had the ability to use the Magic Paper Conversion Spell to create special materials capable of inscribing Magic Arrays to set up corresponding Magic Arrays.
Even Bayen, as a newly advanced Advanced Apprentice, almost emptied his family fortune to set up a small Soul Mana Stone Conversion Array and five Lesser Mana Stone Conversion Arrays at home.
A month passed in a flash. Bayen returned to the territory with the purchased population and captured Sin-bearing Slaves. He checked these Sin-bearing Slaves with Charm Human and accidentally discovered three descendants of the God of Strength who had not awakened.
Bayen sold all the other Sin-bearing Slaves to the Magic Council, keeping these three as his experimental subjects.
Inside Nightlight City, Bayen’s residence.
It was already late at night, but Wizard Apprentices still visited Bayen one after another, asking to rent his Lesser Mana Stone Conversion Array.
Unlike the Magic School Castle, private Mana Stone Conversion Arrays took at least half of the harvest as a cut. Even so, for most Mid-level and Lesser Apprentices, they had no choice.
Bayen hired a Lesser Apprentice to manage the Mana Stone Conversion Array, while he plunged into the underground laboratory to seriously study the three unawakened ones.
Bayen excised some body tissues from the unawakened ones and placed them under the Magic Microscope for observation.
This was a Magic Item invented by Lord Ace a year ago. Unlike the ordinary microscope invented two years ago, the Magic Microscope used magified lenses converted from Monster materials.
Special Rune Arrays were inscribed on the magified lenses. Any Advanced Wizard Apprentice who knew the Soul Spell Insight Perception could observe the microscopic supernatural world through these specially made magified lenses.
Bayen read Ace’s Cellular Organ Theory while observing the cells of the unawakened ones.
Three months later, comparing the cells of Wizard Apprentices, ordinary human organ cells, Divine Descendant organ cells, and Monster organ cells, Bayen reached a preliminary conclusion.
“The vast majority of Divine Descendant cell tissues are no different from mortals, except for the cell tissues of the heart and bone marrow. There are minute Mana reactions within the cells of their heart and bone marrow. The more microscopic world cannot be observed through existing magical technical means.
If Lord Ace’s Life Forbidden Zone Hypothesis holds true, the Life Forbidden Zone within these cells with minute Mana reactions should be significantly different from ordinary cells. Perhaps the reason why Divine Descendants are Divine Descendants lies hidden within.
Some cell tissues of low-level Monsters have Mana reactions, and most of these tissues are where Lesser Rune structures are located.
Almost all cell tissues of powerful low-level Monsters have strong Mana reactions, and power seems to surge in their Life Forbidden Zones.
The cells of Lesser Wizard Apprentices show no obvious changes, except for Mana fluctuations in the brain, which seem related to the soul.
Mid-level Wizard Apprentices seem to show weak Mana reactions in cells throughout their bodies due to the formation of Inherent Mana.
Advanced Wizard Apprentices’ cell tissue Mana reactions are more intense. If this condition is hereditary, perhaps the descendants of Advanced Wizard Apprentices are more likely to become Wizards.
Perhaps this is the Evolution Lord Ace spoke of?
If the changes in Advanced Apprentices are hereditary, then is it possible for Divine Descendants who have obtained divine inheritance to become Wizards?”
Bayen recorded the experiment. Looking at the three well-fed and chubby Divine Descendant experimental subjects, a mysterious smile appeared on his lips.
If unawakened Divine Descendants or newly awakened Divine Descendants could become Wizards, could they be drawn into the Wizard camp to disintegrate the Divine Descendant Nobles from within?
