Chapter 252: Perfect Transformation?
After a while, Caruso turned to Polina.
“This is another paper suitable for Spells, but this wasn’t my original intention when researching the Strange monster. I hope to utilize its devouring and transformation abilities to develop a unique transformation capability that belongs solely to us Wizards.
“The existing Transformation Spell allows one to take on the form of a Monster, but it doesn’t grant a complete conversion; it only mimics the shape. Many of the Monster’s unique abilities remain unusable. I hope to develop a unique method that allows us to freely and perfectly transform into various Monsters—a Perfect Transformation Spell.”
Polina pondered for a moment before replying.
“I’m afraid that idea isn’t something you can achieve overnight. Let’s publish the current research results first. That way, you can exchange the points for an Advanced Wizard Apprentice Promotion Ritual.
“Speaking of which, thanks to Lord Ace inventing the Magified microscope, we have eyes to observe the microscopic Supernatural world. Without it, I fear many of our studies would have stagnated.”
Meanwhile, Ace had achieved preliminary results in his research on the Blessing Orb.
After nearly ten years of storage, the energy within the Blessing Orb had naturally evaporated significantly. With the Power of Faith gone, it was actually easier to observe the orb’s true nature.
Ace fixed the Blessing Orb onto a confinement Rune Array and examined its internal structure once more using the Magified microscope.
“Confirmed. The Blessing Orb is formed by two different nested Rune structures. Furthermore, the internal structure is composed of Level 1 Runes. In other words, it’s equivalent to a 2-Ring Spell in my standardized magic system!”
Ace had grounds for classifying them as Level 1 Runes. He couldn’t observe them when he was an Advanced Wizard Apprentice, but he could now that he was in the Formal Wizard phase.
Because he was worried that arbitrarily combining Spell Models might affect his future path, Ace was extremely cautious about his first Formal Wizard spell.
“Logically, a 1-Ring Spell is essentially still composed of Level 0 Runes. It shouldn’t be able to affect the Soul Sanctuary after vitality has been infused into it. The Soul Secret Space should have ascended to the level of Level 1 Life, meaning only 2-Ring Spells could potentially have a corresponding effect. But this is just a hypothesis. As the only Quasi-Formal Wizard right now, I dare not experiment lightly.”
When it concerned his own foundation, he had to be cautious. Therefore, only 0-Ring Spells (his original Soul Spells) floated within his Soul Sanctuary ; he hadn’t dared to combine any 1-Ring Spells in there yet.
He thought for a while and continued to study the two Spell Models deconstructed from the Blessing Orb. One of them looked very familiar to Ace.
“This deconstruction and the mutable Rune form… it’s too familiar!”
Ace immediately replicated a spell from his Soul Sanctuary , compared it with the deconstructed three-dimensional Spell Model, and analyzed the specific Runes within.
“I’m not mistaken. The two are related as upper and lower-tier Runes. The upper-tier Rune possesses a larger and richer Rune group. I was just worrying about how to reverse-engineer Level 1 Runes from Level 0 Runes, and now a ready-made result has appeared for analysis!”
The constituent Runes of this 2-Ring Spell Model were none other than the Simulation Rune Group!
“Based on the composition of this Rune group, I can degrade it into a corresponding 1-Ring Spell Model. Not only that, but this corresponding upper-and-lower-tier Rune structure also provides a paradigm for upgrading other 0-Ring Spell Models!
“The only remaining question is whether 1-Ring Spell Models will affect the choice of my path! I wonder how far Logan’s research has progressed. Can he provide Magical Cuisine that satisfies that entity? Or rather, will that entity continue to enjoy Magical Cuisine?”
Ace muttered to himself while unconsciously pummeling the Masked Man, making him cry out in a mix of pain and pleasure.
“Almost forgot about you. Pain brings you joy, doesn’t it?” Ace yanked Bent’s Pain Mask off the man’s face. The Masked Man instantly turned into a Faceless Man, letting out a howl of genuine agony.
“Why do believers of Pain need masks? What exactly did they lose that made the Pain Mask a necessity?” Ace carefully stored Bent’s Pain Mask, frowning in thought.
A few days later, just as Ace was heading out to find Logan to discuss Magical Cuisine, his Magic Book became scorching hot.
Ace opened it and saw that Caruso, having published his paper and saved enough Academic Points, had applied to hold the Advanced Wizard Apprentice Promotion Ritual.
Ace had set a high classification level for the knowledge regarding this ritual; it was not to be made public at this stage.
Aside from Betty, Ancestar, and Arno, who had advanced naturally, everyone else had reached the quasi-hero level through this ritual. It could be said that this ritual was one of the most important ceremonies in the High Tower Territory.
Naturally, Ace had to preside over such a significant event personally.
Just like the Mirror Image’s promotion years ago, Caruso sat within the Magic Array.
Ace created an environment with high Mana concentration and activity using multi-frequency Mana resonance. Then, he used the Advanced Apprentice Promotion Guidance spell to guide Caruso’s soul to resonate with the philosophy of his magical path in pursuit of truth.
Caruso’s soul gradually drifted out of his body, interacting with the natural environment. He felt as if all things were whispering to him. A white light gradually appeared around his head, flashing briefly before generating a powerful suction force that drew his Mental Power into the location of his soul.
A chaotic space flashed with lightning and thunder as his spirit arrived, slowly expanding.
Ace observed that Caruso had opened his Soul Sanctuary. He adjusted his own soul frequency to resonate with Caruso.
In a dreamlike state, Caruso heard a loud shout. He instantly fell back into his body and opened his eyes.
Ace smiled at him. “Congratulations, Advanced Wizard Apprentice Mr. Caruso. Welcome to the Magic Council.”
After Caruso’s promotion, his friends held a small celebratory party at his home.
Lucilu said to Caruso with envy, “Many people need two or three ceremonies to advance to Advanced Wizard Apprentice, but you succeeded on your first try. I’m so jealous.”
Caruso knew that Lucilu had undergone the ritual once but had failed at the last moment. Not knowing how to comfort him, Caruso simply gave him a silent hug.
For the next six months, Caruso continued to study the Devouring Rune, Reverse Assimilation Rune, Dissolution Rune, and Solidification Rune discovered in the Strange monster. He attempted to adjust the structures of the Runes themselves, hoping to combine them with the Transformation Rune to form the Perfect Transformation Spell he desired.
Caruso found a method to devour and control the progress of assimilation.
By embedding the Transformation Rune into the Rune structure, the devouring and assimilation effects could be diversified.
Specifically, the Strange monster could originally only devour and transform into one type of Supernatural creature and could not change back. But with the addition of the Transformation Rune, it gained the ability to revert to a liquid state.
