Chapter 307: Alliance
Deer’s joyful expression froze instantly, and he asked with a grave look: “Are the giant beasts hunting again?”
“It’s not giant beasts. I learned a series of advanced techniques from the Kam Tribe, such as farming, logging, cart-making, bow-making, and house-building. Because I didn’t want to stay in the Kam Tribe, they tried to burn me to death. I escaped and set a fire in their tribe. They will definitely come for revenge; we must flee quickly.”
Duan said anxiously.
Deer looked at Duan and noticed that his clothes were indeed different—outerwear with a texture unlike animal skins, a pair of exquisitely sewn animal skin boots, and a curved wooden stick on his back.
“Since you set a fire, the Kam Tribe will definitely have to put it out first. We should have a day. Hurry up and take the stored food, wrap ourselves tightly in animal skins, and prepare to set off.”
Deer trusted Duan. He was unwilling to have a direct conflict with the powerful Kam Tribe and prepared to migrate in winter.
“It’s too cold outside. If we migrate rashly, we might lose many tribe members.”
Zi finished the ceremony and quietly walked up to the two, saying.
“Then what should we do?”
Deer asked.
“We have seven King-Chosen Warriors and over eighty adult tribe members in total. We have the strength to fight.”
Zi replied.
“Even if we win, it will likely be a pyrrhic victory. Even if the Kam Tribe loses a hundred people, they still have over a thousand. If we lose a hundred people, our tribe is finished.”
Deer disagreed. Setting aside how many people the Kam Tribe would send and whether they could win, the mere fact that the Deer Tribe couldn’t afford to lose made Deer unwilling to fight this battle.
“We definitely can’t do it alone. We must unite the other tribes of the Luca Grassland.”
Zi said, her left eye gleaming with dazzling light.
“How to unite?”
Duan asked in confusion.
“The King’s will,” Zi said somewhat mysteriously. “Also, did you bring these big yellow sheep without horns that can be ridden?”
Duan said somewhat proudly, “These are called horses. I discovered them on the grasslands further north of Buri Lake. They run very fast. Once tamed, they are our best partners.”
“Teach me how to tame a horse,” Zi said in a cool voice.
Duan scratched his head and finally told Zi how he violently tamed the horse. Zi picked a horse she liked, gave it a severe beating, and successfully rode it.
“I’m going to contact other tribes. You prepare for battle first!”
Deer and Duan looked at each other. Since the Witch said it was the King’s will, they could only choose to obey.
Duan directed the tribe members to grind animal bones into thin bone flakes, make them serrated, and then use them for logging.
“Duan, the Kam Tribe’s skills are indeed impressive. This thing called a bone saw can saw through a big tree so quickly. But what use is it for us to saw through big trees?”
Deer asked in puzzlement.
Duan smiled mysteriously and said, “You’ll know soon.”
Soon, the trunk of the big tree was sawn into short, round stumps, and dawn was breaking.
Duan got inspiration from using a door panel for defense and assault. He dug out a handle in the center of the round wooden stump, making a very primitive wooden buckler.
Duan picked up the rough round wooden buckler and said to Deer: “Try attacking me with a stone spear.”
Holding a stone spear in one hand and a round wooden buckler in the other, Duan quickly defeated Deer.
“Is this also a method learned from the Kam Tribe?”
Deer asked anxiously. If people from the Kam Tribe all had round wooden bucklers, they would be hard to deal with.
“Don’t worry, the Kam Tribe doesn’t have this thing. I came up with this myself. It’s the Deer Tribe’s secret weapon!”
Duan said somewhat proudly.
As the sky gradually brightened, the Deer Tribe members were digging traps wearily. The sound of more and more footsteps approached—it turned out to be people from the Bear Tribe.
Then, people from the Horn Tribe, Wu Tribe, Tree Tribe, and River Tribe arrived one after another. The noblest Witch of the Luca Grassland, Zi, followed behind riding a brown horse.
“The Kam Tribe actually wants to occupy the Luca Grassland and expel us all. It’s simply unforgivable!”
Wu stood beside the noble Witch and said loudly.
“All tribes believing in the Invisible King must unite in the name of the King!”
The Chief of the Bear Tribe also spoke.
The chiefs of other tribes also expressed their stance one after another, greatly surprising Duan and Deer.
Duan quietly leaned close to Deer’s ear and whispered, “What’s going on? Were the heads of these tribal chiefs kicked by sheep?”
Deer looked at Zi, who was smiling dignifiedly on the brown horse. Zi and Deer exchanged glances. She pointed to her right eye with her finger, and Deer suddenly realized.
He whispered to Duan: “The Dwelling of God, the will of the Invisible King.”
Duan suddenly realized that Zi must have borrowed the power of the Invisible King.
In fact, Zi had indeed borrowed the aura leaked by Ace. Because Ace had resided in Zi’s right eye for a long time, the entire right eye had become sanctified. Even a tiny bit of leaked aura was enough to awe others.
Zi prayed for Ace to reveal a trace of aura, and Ace indeed responded to Zi’s request, revealing a trace of aura to her. Relying on the suppression of Ace’s aura, the tribes of the Luca Grassland believing in the Invisible King all agreed to unite.
“We want to establish a Faith Alliance to jointly resist the invasion of the Kam Tribe! In the name of the Invisible King, witnessed by God, the subjects of the Invisible King unite.”
Zi lifted the eyepatch on her right eye. The right eye remained tightly closed, but a trace of Ace’s aura diffused there. Everyone felt a palpitation in their hearts; no one dared to disobey God’s will.
“Form the Luca Alliance and defeat the running dogs of the false god Harvest King!”
Duan followed closely and roared. The chiefs of several other tribes also stood out fanatically in turn. Just like that, what was clearly a crisis for the Deer Tribe actually led the six tribes of the entire Luca Grassland to form an alliance of the same faith.
Deer’s gaze burned as he muttered to himself.
“Our tribe has one hundred and forty people, the Bear Tribe two hundred, the Tree Tribe eighty, the Wu Tribe sixty, the Horn Tribe forty, and the River Tribe thirty. That totals?”
Deer couldn’t quite calculate it. In previous years, he couldn’t even calculate numbers above a hundred. In the past two years, due to the surge in the tribe’s population, he had gradually become sensitive to numbers.
“A total of over five hundred and fifty people. Even near Buri Lake, it can be considered a large tribe.”
Duan interjected.
Their gazes met, and both understood each other’s thoughts. They wanted to maintain this alliance more tightly, rather than just dealing with the Kam Tribe’s invasion.
“The most important thing now is to defeat the Kam people! Only by defeating the Kam people can we talk about other things.”
Deer said decisively. He no longer wanted to flee but wanted to unite the humans of the entire Luca Grassland.
They acted quickly. Some followed Duan to log and make shields, while others dug pits and traps. Zi led a small number of people on horseback to the north to scout the movements of the Kam Tribe.
