Chapter 325: Discovery
Sulu quietly activated the 0-Ring Spell Insight Perception. He took out a badge emanating shadow mist from his chest pocket and pinned it on himself.
0-Ring Magic Item: Shadow Badge.
This badge seals the supernatural effect of the Shadow Wolf Transformation Spell. Activating this badge allows one to transform into a Shadow Wolf with strength equivalent to a Quasi-Hero.
Sulu the Shadow Wolf, stepping to the rhythm of shadows, hid in the Shadow Plane and tracked the somewhat abnormal Carlo.
“Caw, caw, caw!”
A somewhat heart-palpitating raven cry rang out. In the Shadow Plane, Carlo and Sulu met.
Sulu made no sound and attacked Carlo directly and decisively. Highly corrosive shadow blades were thrown out by Sulu in succession.
Carlo’s eyes flashed with Pain Fire, quickly forming a Pain Fire Shield that easily blocked Sulu’s attack. Sulu’s transformed Shadow Wolf showed no fear. Instead of retreating, he advanced, charging with all his might, the entire wolf forming a conical shadow.
Carlo dodged and postured for defense, but unexpectedly, Sulu’s charge did not slow down; he actually ran away quickly along the Shadow Plane.
“There’s no way I’m going to duel you one-on-one. I’m someone who’s going to become a Formal Wizard; my life is the most important thing! For this kind of thing, i will report it to the Council of Seven.”
He had already recorded the video data with his grimore to ensure he could identify Carlo. Feeling there was no need to fight to the death with the strange Carlo, he ran decisively.
The Shadow Raven Carlo was a bit confused. He chased Sulu for a short distance before being bound by a magic rope that suddenly rose up, rendering him immobile.
“Luckily you rushed over as soon as you received my message, Warren.”
Sulu said with an expression of exaggerated gratitude.
Warren pulled Sulu and said, “Excellency Caruso knows about this. He was worried about accidents, so he came personally.”
As they spoke, a human head actually grew out of the end of the magic rope. It was Caruso. He opened his mouth and said, “I have already controlled this guy. His mana channels have been cut off, and he has been sealed by me. We will head to the High Tower immediately to discuss with the other Excellencies.”
Caruso use the 1-Ring Spell Low-Altitude Flight. He took Carlo and went ahead. Sulu and Warren followed closely behind.
Sulu said to Warren somewhat worriedly through his grimore: “Why not report directly to Lord Ace? Caruso won’t eat up our credit, will he?”
Warren replied through the grimore, somewhat amused and exasperated: “You worry too much. This is a top-secret event. Once you arrive at the High Tower, the Excellencies of the Council of Seven will tell you personally.”
Warren and Sulu rushed into the top floor of the High Tower. Passing through layers of checks, they entered the Council Hall.
The seven councilors had already arrived. Daina, wearing a fit and graceful Witch’s robe with a ringed hexagram badge pinned on her chest, walked over.
“You are the direct contacts and discoverers of this incident. Sign a confidentiality contract with me first, and I will tell you what you can know.”
Daina extended her hand. Accompanied by the rhythm of mana, a contract scroll condensed from pure mana crystal appeared.
Without any hesitation, Sulu and Warren each grasped the mana crystal contract scroll.
Poof!
The scroll instantly turned into complex magic patterns and rune structures. Under Daina’s operation, witnessed by the Magic Network, the confidentiality contract was established.
As the confidentiality imprint merged into their Soul Sanctuaries, Daina breathed a sigh of relief and whispered to the two: “Lord Ace is conducting a complex experiment and cannot appear to handle this incident. According to the territory’s laws and the Magic Council’s charter, the Council of Seven has full authority to handle it.”
Sulu looked at Daina eagerly. Daina couldn’t help but sigh. She had understood Sulu’s personality from the beginning when they were hunted by God-descendants in the Northern Frontier.
She said in a calm tone: “You have merit for the discovery. The Council of Seven has decided to reward you with 300 Academic Points first, and reward Warren with 100 Academic Points. We will report to Lord Ace after his experiment ends. Follow-up rewards will be decided based on a comprehensive assessment of this incident.”
Although I didn’t get a chance to show my face in front of Lord Ace, this is acceptable, Sulu thought.
The subsequent matters temporarily had nothing to do with the two of them.
The seven people then conducted a detailed study and interrogation of Carlo, confirming that he had become a Devil Worshiper and the deep layers of his soul had mutated.
The Council of Seven practiced a rotating chief system. This year’s rotating chief was Betty. She sat on a small and exquisite floating disk-shaped machine, her whole body covered by a layer of liquid metal-like substance.
She raised her gleaming silver hand and said in a somewhat sharp voice: “We must immediately seal the entire city and screen all personnel. At the same time, strengthen patrols and monitoring of the territory. The opponent likely exploited blind spots in our perception spells and used some method to shield perception to infiltrate the city.
“Based on the interrogation analysis just now, the Devil Worshipers will very likely instigate hostile forces to attack us!”
Polina added: “We must expand the range of perception. The entire Mt. Larr range needs real-time monitoring. At the same time, the regional Magic Councils in the various city-states of Salia must be urgently mobilized to ensure all abnormalities are reported to the High Tower!”
Ancestar said with a gloomy expression: “Besides information gathering and strengthening defenses, we must also prepare an escape route. Perhaps we can upgrade the Magic Ship to evacuate important data and trustworthy personnel via the ship!”
The image of Punishers raising scythes and charging on horseback surfaced in his mind. He absolutely could not go through his past experiences again.
…
Meanwhile, the Witch walked gracefully into the former Northern March Fortress, now the Abyssal Projection Lair, the old land of the Abyssal Archon, and the capital of the Great Demon Alex!
In the great hall, the witch bowed charmingly to Alex, while Sauron stood by with his sword raised.
“Greetings to Your Highness, the pus-oozing, evil-filled Great Demon. You are the Lord of the Abyssal Projection, the most vicious and disgusting existence.”
Alex, sitting on the throne, smiled with satisfaction. A long claw extended from the shadow behind him, pulling the Witch into his embrace.
“Since I secured the position of Projection Lord, you haven’t visited me for a long time. What wind blew you here today? Let me hehehe…”
Alex uttered obscenities contentedly. The Witch’s expression didn’t change at all. With a soft charm, she easily left Alex’s embrace and began to flirt and play with Alex on the spot.
After a long while, the Witch whispered a few words into Alex’s ear.
Alex’s expression remained unchanged as he whispered: “What does a strange mortal force have to do with me? The God-descendant nobles who deserve to go to the Abyss can deal with the headache. If they come to me, I’ll let them know what a Pseudo-High Demon is!
High Demon is equivalent to a Legendary Hero; Pseudo means possessing Legendary strength within the range of the Abyssal Projection.
The Witch’s laughter rang out like silver bells. She chuckled lightly, leaning close to Alex’s chest, drawing circles on his chest with her white fingers.
“Alex, are you afraid?”
