Chapter 347: This Enemy is Worth Fighting
Ace had intended to hide the existence of the High Tower as much as possible, but now that it was exposed, it would naturally face hostility and attacks from the surrounding city-states and even the Abyssal Projection.
Only by finding a deity who bore no ill will toward the High Tower Wizards and was willing to act as a Patron God could they struggle to grow amidst the hostility of countless city-states.
“Lord Ace, I will go to the Punishers’ campsite and trick them into handing over the Quasi-Noble Phantasm ‘City of Protection.’ Then, you can wipe them all out,” Aleias said matter-of-factly.
Ace nodded, looking at her with profound eyes. Time was extremely tight; they had to act fast.
While Ace and Aleias were plotting to seize the Quasi-Noble Phantasm “City of Protection,” near Mt. Baal, Ancestar was leading the Advanced Knight Squires in a charge.
As the Five-Virtue Holy Light, formed by five Virtue Creeds, resonated continuously with his body and soul, Ancestar felt as if some miraculous change was occurring within him.
It was hard to describe—like scratching an itch through a boot. It was just missing that last bit of force, never quite satisfying.
“I hope Arno and the others arrive soon. I have a premonition that gathering more Virtue Creeds will inevitably produce even more favorable changes. It’s a pity no one has awakened the Loyalty Creed. Otherwise, with eight virtues forming a complete Virtue Holy Light, perhaps an incredible qualitative change would occur!”
Ancestar charged forward indomitably. All the Knights moved as one entity, their speed synchronized with his. The entire Virtue Holy Light flowed freely like a torrent.
Alex squinted at the events unfolding in the low sky, his mind racing. Although he was a demon, as a former Divine Descendant, he retained basic rational thought.
He didn’t charge recklessly like an ordinary demon. Instead, he recalled and pondered.
“It seems very similar to a certain power Father mentioned. Legend has it that the power of the Lord of Dawn is unrivaled light, possessing extremely strong suppression and damage amplification effects against demons and devils.
“The Glory of Dawn once left an indelible light scar on an Abyssal Lord. He seems to have fallen right here.”
Alex spoke in a raspy voice. He glanced at the seemingly normal Mt. Baal, a chill running through his heart. He couldn’t be careless; he had to strike immediately.
Alex had already left the range of the Abyssal Projection and could no longer use his pseudo-Level 3 power. The pitch-black darkness behind him surged, instantly blotting out the sky and enveloping the demons, Ancestar, and the others.
Viscous, ominous, chaotic, cursed. Ancestar felt every pore on his body tremble. He shuddered involuntarily, changed direction, and accelerated with all his might.
Under the shroud of the Five-Virtue Light, the Knights emitted a soft white glow. Like a meteor streaking across the sky, they narrowly dodged Alex’s shadow devour.
The tens of thousands of demons, however, couldn’t dodge in time and were all swallowed by Alex’s shadows. The ominous shadow mass in the sky made crunching sounds, then anthropomorphically spat out a mouthful, ejecting all the demons.
Alex slowly ascended. The ominous shadow writhed back behind him, slithering into the darkness at his back with a squelching sound. Then, the darkness abruptly enveloped Alex, transforming into a suit of armor and a halberd.
Ancestar felt the gravity of the situation—a tangible oppression. Although he didn’t understand how strong a peak Level 2 existence was, he knew Alex was definitely not someone he could defeat, even with the Five-Virtue Holy Light.
Without hesitation, Ancestar roared, “Concentrate all power!”
The Knights’ hearts pounded. The five Virtue Creeds—Compassion, Humility, Honesty, Sacrifice, and Honor—resonated with each other, condensing and elevating the Holy Light continuously.
Alex raised the shadow halberd high. Dark lightning surged around it. His expression was cold as he pointed straight at the Knights.
Boom!
With just a single strike, the Five-Virtue Holy Light constructed by the Formal Knight and Advanced Knight Squires was completely shattered. The gap between a peak Level 2 existence and Level 1 existences couldn’t be bridged by elemental advantage alone.
Ancestar looked a bit ragged. The Five-Virtue Holy Light had done its utmost, collapsing only after withstanding one of Alex’s strikes. The Knights suffered only minor injuries, which was arguably stronger than expected.
Ancestar scrambled to his feet, horse and all. He had to stand up. Even if he was outmatched, he had to give it his all.
Alex didn’t hold back. He raised his halberd again, his expression indifferent, like a high and mighty God King of Destruction. Ominous magic power disturbed violently, the aura of the Abyss spread continuously, and terrifying whispers began to rise.
Mt. Baal seemed to tremble slightly, but no one noticed.
A scorching yellow light flashed by, crashing in front of Ancestar with a loud thud.
Arno and Xavier tumbled off their horses face-first, smashing a deep pit into the ground.
Ancestar, tense and prepared for death, couldn’t help but chuckle at seeing Arno and the other arrive in such a manner. Then he roared, “Crawl out! Right now!”
Just as Arno poked his head out, about to jump up, Alex in the sky said coldly, “Too late. Die with regret and anger!”
Rumble! Dark lightning surged, dark clouds gathered, and the dark lightning on the shadow halberd struck instantly!
Sweat beaded on Ancestar’s handsome face. He roared, “Activate your Virtue Creeds! Trust me! Lend me your Hearts of Virtue and let the Holy Light descend!”
Hearing this, Donna and the others immediately activated their Hearts of Virtue. The powers of Humility, Sacrifice, Honesty, and Honor shone in sequence.
Arno was still a bit confused. Donna screamed frantically, “Where are your Courage and Justice? Hurry up and activate the rune structures in your hearts! Lend your primal Heart Power to Lord Ancestar!”
The dark lightning was imminent. Alex felt uneasy and roared loudly, “Stop with your schemes! Respectfully welcome the arrival of death!”
Thump!
Intense heartbeats rang out one after another. Arno’s golden light of Courage and Xavier’s purple light of Justice shone brilliantly. Seven different virtues gathered here. With the Compassion Heart Power of the Compassion Knight Ancestar as the core, the other six Heart Powers manifested as six beating phantom hearts.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
The heartbeats gradually synchronized. The six phantom hearts of Courage, Justice, Humility, Sacrifice, Honesty, and Honor slowly merged with Ancestar’s Heart of Compassion.
Under the rainbow-colored light, Ancestar’s heart became crystal clear. His Compassion Heart Power gradually transformed into Compassion Holy Light, blooming with dazzling azure brilliance.
The azure Holy Light flowed rapidly through Ancestar’s body, transforming him quickly. His entire being became dazzlingly azure, like the deep ocean.
Ancestar raised the longsword in his hand, azure Compassion Holy Light flowing along the blade. He looked solemn and dignified as he stared at the approaching dark lightning, raising his azure longsword high.
“Compassion Holy Light! This enemy is worth fighting.”
