Chapter 353: Facetanking a Pyroblast
Roar!
A massive, furious roar erupted from within the pitch-black shadows. Ollie inexplicably felt a sense of familiarity; that roar was warm and recognizable.
“Arno must be inside! I have to find a way to break this thing!”
Floating in the sky, Ollie pulled out a portion of the Glycerin Magic Tubes she had received from Daina from her spatial pocket. Over a hundred vials danced around her.
“I can’t use them all; that would be too wasteful. I’ll try with a hundred first.”
Ollie specialized in wind magic with a minor in fire magic. Using spellcasting materials to enhance spell effects was not unfamiliar to her.
“Wind and Fire. Wind can fuel the fire’s intensity. With fire as the primary and wind as the auxiliary, plus the Glycerin Magic Tubes specially made by Lord Ace…”
Runes danced before Ollie. Dressed in a moon-white wizard robe, she looked like a goddess under the moonlight. The runes were like musical notes, and Ollie was the elegant violinist. Under her command, the notes gradually composed a resounding and spirited march.
A composite spell model dominated by fire and wind gradually took shape, derived from the “Pressure-Track Pyroblast” developed by Ace—the 1-Ring Spell “Pressurized Gas Pyroblast.”
As her understanding of the wind element deepened, Ollie keenly discovered that gas wasn’t singular; different gases seemed to have different qualities. She gradually discovered a gas she named “Fuel Gas.”
This was a special gas formed from the decay of animals, plants, and even feces, possessing deadly toxicity and highly flammable and explosive properties.
Ollie had stored this special gas in sealed high-pressure tanks made of metal. She took out a high-pressure tank from her spatial pocket and released the gas.
The spell model guided the rhythm of magic power, drawing the fuel gas around the model. The air around Ollie grew hot, and tongues of fire danced around her. She looked like a valiant Valkyrie, her moon-white robe fluttering in the wind, a sight to behold.
The fire snakes traced a mysterious pattern, and the temperature rose higher and higher. Ollie moved the rune structure forward several meters. Beads of sweat still trickled down her forehead. Before long, her body, possessing the constitution of a Formal Wizard, was soaked through.
The Glycerin Magic Tubes mixed with the canisters of fuel gas, seemingly producing a magical catalytic effect. A blinding white light flashed, turning the entire night sky as bright as day.
With a shout, Ollie prepared to hurl the super-sized scorching fireball. Suddenly, the surging pitch-black shadows twisted and bulged abnormally. It seemed an unbearable force was erupting from within the shadows. Like a popped balloon, beams of pure orange-yellow light pierced through the darkness.
Ollie felt the warmth. Her Magic Sensitivity and Insight Perception activated simultaneously as she tried hard to observe the situation inside.
A black-and-red figure and a dark crimson figure… Ollie knew what they represented: power at the level of a Great Hero!
She distinguished them carefully and found one to be a lion of orange-yellow light with eagle wings, majestic and awe-inspiring, carrying an inexplicable familiarity—like Arno’s warm chest.
On the other side was a mass of pitch-black shadows, a terrifying humanoid figure twisting constantly, with faintly visible hideous bat wings.
Without hesitation, Ollie controlled the super-sized, bright white scorching fireball and hurled it at the pitch-black shadow.
Alex was countered by the flying lion formed from Arno’s Courage Holy Light. He couldn’t break through the thick orange-yellow Holy Light to attack Arno within the lion of light.
Even when shadowified, the light still burned Alex to a certain extent, making him extremely uncomfortable. He deeply understood how other Divine Descendants felt when fighting him.
The formless whispers of the Abyss and its corrosive power usually countered all Divine Descendants. Even the combat master of Medimus City-State, the Great Hero Arnold, would be at a slight disadvantage against him. He hadn’t expected to be beaten so frustratingly by a so-called Knight here.
“Damn it! I must endure. Endure a little longer. Let him get more arrogant and completely relax his guard.”
Alex roared inwardly. The Abyssal Projection he created had been smashed to pieces by the lion, completely shattered.
Just as he was about to feign weakness again, a super-sized bright white scorching Pyroblast rushed toward him. The bewildered Alex took the super-sized Pyroblast directly to the face. Instantly swallowed by flames—Boom!
Arno’s eyes lit up slightly. Such powerful might… has Lord Ace arrived?
Controlling the Lion of Light to protect Ancestar and the others, he watched the beautiful fireworks blooming in the sky, then looked at the source of the Pyroblast. Ollie, dressed in a moon-white magic robe and soaked to the skin, was floating prettily in mid-air.
Arno felt his mouth go dry and couldn’t help but turn his head away.
The explosion was intense. Chain explosions spread across the sky, with countless shadow humanoids struggling within. The entire night sky looked like burning clouds, illuminating the area around Mt. Baal as if it were day.
Ace, hurrying toward Mt. Baal, also saw the burning cloud-like explosion. He was momentarily stunned; the power of this Pyroblast was somewhat unexpected.
“I’d say it’s even stronger than a single 3-Ring Fire Element Spell, though slightly weaker than the lethality of the Four-Element Pulverize Disc. Ollie must have used my inventory. I wonder how many Glycerin Magic Tubes she threw in at once.”
Ace muttered to himself.
As the projection of the Abyssal Shadow Plane completely shattered, the area around Mt. Baal quickly returned to normal. The hidden Mt. Baal reappeared, and the silent whispers of the Abyss drifted faintly.
The horns on Alex’s head were bald, leaving only a charred forehead. Of his four wings, only two remained, and half his body was gone. This was only because he reacted in time and shadowified; otherwise, nothing would remain.
“****”
Alex cursed viciously. He no longer had any thought of enduring. He quickly flew crookedly toward the Abyssal Projection in the Northern March.
He assumed Ace from the intelligence had arrived and was cursing the Witch loudly. Seven or eight Hero-level figures and two Great Hero-level figures were worlds apart!
Arno could be said to have had a breakthrough on the spot, a stroke of luck. But this point-blank Pyroblast couldn’t be described as luck. Such powerful force—even among the descendants of Eric, only a Great Hero could unleash it!
Alex cursed the Witch and the devils incessantly. In the distance, the Witch and Sauron, who were observing, looked at each other in dismay. They hadn’t expected the High Tower to possess such strength!
“Perhaps it’s time to re-evaluate this High Tower? After all, all conspiracies were woven by the believers of Pain. Maybe we, the envoys of Lust, can cooperate with the High Tower.”
The Witch covered her mouth and laughed like silver bells. A new object worth exploiting had appeared.
Arno didn’t hesitate. He realized Alex was at the end of his rope.
He shouted to Ollie, “Take the Melancholy Uncle and the others back to the High Tower! If Lord Ace arrives, please ask him to support me.”
After that, the Lion of Light took flight without hesitation, pursuing the half-bodied Alex.
