Chapter 354: Pseudo-Rank High Demon

Ollie looked at Ancestar and the other Advanced Knight Squires lying flat on the ground, then glanced at the Lion of Light speeding away. She descended slowly from mid-air and stomped her foot hard.

Ancestar’s injuries hadn’t healed yet. His heart was a miraculous gift from Donna’s sacrifice, and his body hadn’t quite adapted to it. He tried hard to sit up but fell back heavily.

Xavier rushed over and hoisted Ancestar onto his back. Gasping for breath, Ancestar said, “Ollie, don’t worry about us. We can get back on our own. Go check on Arno. I’m worried that the Great Demon is cunning and hiding some conspiracy.”

Ollie looked at Ancestar, then at the distant Arno. After hesitating for a moment, she stomped her foot again and said, “Xavier, I’m counting on you to take Uncle back to the High Tower.”

With that, she drifted like a cloud into the air. The wind swirled around her, forming an egg-shaped shelter of wind. Using the Wind Flight spell, Ollie departed rapidly.

Seeing Ollie leave, Ancestar clutched his chest in pain and said, “Xavier, you all head back to the High Tower first. I’ve recovered enough; I’ll wait here for a bit!”

Xavier said worriedly, “Lord Ancestar, with your body like this, I can’t rest easy leaving you here alone.”

Ancestar grunted. After sitting on the ground for two minutes, he opened his eyes, which burst with azure Holy Light!

He stood up steadily, azure Holy Light flowing all over his body, and said to Xavier, “I’m fine. You hurry back. Your strength is completely insufficient to participate in this battle; staying here would only be a burden.”

Xavier looked at Ancestar suspiciously a few times. After confirming Ancestar seemed fine, he led the other Advanced Knight Squires back toward the High Tower.

Watching their figures gradually disappear, Ancestar lost all his strength and sat down heavily on his butt, howling in pain.

“It really… hiss… hurts… ah…”

The Compassion Holy Light continued to flow within him, restoring his strength bit by bit. Ancestar gathered the remnant Grand Knight-level Holy Light left by Arno into his hands, staring at it in a daze.

…

In the south, the winged Lion formed from Arno’s Holy Light was flying. The lion had already bitten the maimed Alex twice, chewing on Alex’s thigh and purifying the severed limb with Holy Light.

“Damn it! How can there be a power that counters the Abyss so thoroughly!”

Suppressed completely by Arno, Alex narrowly escaped back to the Abyssal Projection territory in the Northern March. The entire Abyssal Projection began to cheer and curse. Status Power gathered, and Alex’s body, covered in Courage Holy Scars, began to expel the scars and recover rapidly.

Against any other Great Hero, the outcome of a fight with Arno would be uncertain. But Alex was different; he was completely suppressed by Arno’s power, unable to exert even half his strength.

However, strength and suppression were relative. Once a certain boundary was crossed, even with elemental countering, one could turn the tables and suppress the opponent!

Arno realized something was wrong. Alex’s power was growing at an unusual rate, having already broken through some limit. Controlling the Lion of Light, he opened its massive maw.

“Gather the Holy Light, condense it into one point—Light Cannon!”

Boom!

The lion spat out an unstoppable beam of Courage Light, instantly hitting Alex, whose aura was climbing.

Alex raised his remaining claw and easily blocked the unstoppable Courage Light Cannon. His body recovered rapidly. Shadows surged over his charred form, and in moments, slimy arms and a torso grew back.

With a loud shout, his legs and the four wings on his back also regenerated.

“Cackle cackle… It felt good biting and chasing me just now, didn’t it? I, Alex, Lord of the Abyssal Projection, acknowledge you as the strongest mortal. With this rare honor, return to the embrace of the Abyss!”

Alex roared. Two more bat wings grew from his back—he had become a six-winged demon!

Beads of cold sweat appeared on Arno’s forehead. He muttered, “Six wings… a legendary High Demon… a Moving Natural Disaster!”

Alex extended his palm and grabbed the lion directly, slamming it forcefully onto the ground. The countering effect of the Holy Light had almost vanished; his life level was now completely different.

Arno tried to resist a few times but found he couldn’t contend at all. This power had completely surpassed the level of a Great Hero. It was undoubtedly Legendary!

The power was oppressive. No technique was needed—just brute punches and kicks were enough to overpower Arno. Holy Light had an overwhelming advantage against demons of the same rank, but it couldn’t break the chains of life level hierarchy. It was like how a rat, no matter how strong, couldn’t fight a human.

Alex vented his rage frantically. After several attempts, Arno tried to flee, but he was always caught by Alex, unable to escape the range of the Abyssal Projection.

“There must be a reason for Alex’s sudden advancement. His earlier escape wasn’t fake; if I had caught him then, he would definitely have died… Is it because we are within the range of the Abyssal Projection? Or did he borrow some power?”

Arno thought while trying to survive. The Lion of Light had disappeared. He was covered in blood and filth, shadows corroding his body, making him dizzy.

Ollie had arrived within the range of the Abyssal Projection. Her heart skipped a beat, and her silver-white teeth unconsciously bit her lower lip. Her worst fear had happened.

“The Great Demon really had a scheme. I have to find a way to save Brother Arno!”

Floating in mid-air, Ollie’s moon-white robes fluttered like a goddess descending to the mortal world. Hundreds of crystalline runes, thousands of glycerin magic tube, and dozens of fuel gas canisters swirled around her.

Accompanied by the rhythm of magic power, like a waltz murmured by lovers, mysterious and complex fire rune structures formed. The wind drifted, flames burned, and a terrifying Pyroblast approaching maximum power gradually took shape.

Ollie charged her power, struggling to maintain the massive, scorching Pyroblast. Her slender figure held the enormous fireball high, like a goddess holding up the sun, ready to judge all sins in this world.

Alex undoubtedly spotted Ollie. He frowned slightly. He could sense the unstable power hidden within that massive fireball; the temperature of the surrounding environment rose with it. He couldn’t tank that!

Having learned his lesson the hard way, Alex didn’t drop Arno. He turned into shadows and drifted rapidly, preventing Ollie from locking onto him.

Seizing the opportunity, Arno ran desperately toward Ollie. He grabbed Ollie, who was holding the massive Pyroblast high, and shouted against the heatwaves, “The Great Demon suddenly advanced, likely related to the Abyssal Projection territory. Throw this fireball out, and let’s flee the Abyss range immediately!”

Ollie nodded. She was already overburdened maintaining this fireball far beyond her own power. She simply stopped trying to lock onto the elusive Alex and hurled it straight forward. The two of them flew backward to retreat.
