Chapter 420: Family

Ace caught the jar of wine and took a gentle sip. Sweet, crisp, with a faint vitality. This wine wasn’t the most expensive or the best, but it was definitely the most suitable for ordinary people to drink. Unknowingly, Ace felt a bit of goodwill towards the wizard apprentice responsible for looking after his family.

Romon looked at his son, who was already over thirty, and felt emotional for a moment. His lifelong desire was to restore the family to the status of a citizen family. He never expected the final result to far exceed the limit of his imagination.

His family fled from the Medimus City-State, and his son built a brand-new city in a desolate valley. To some extent, apart from lacking divine blood, his son was in no way inferior to the great city builders of any city-state.

Having such an outstanding son, Romon was exceptionally proud. However, he also felt some panic in his heart. Without the support of Deities, how far could this increasingly prosperous city and the growing number of wizards go?

Looking at his son’s head full of silver hair, Romon felt a pang of heartache. He and Marina missed Ace very much but dared not disturb him. Marina wanted to visit Ace several times but was stopped by Romon. He had said back then:

“The High Tower Territory looks like the rising sun and has developed rapidly in recent years, but it cannot see the light of day here. The Divine Descendant nobles will not recognize us, nor is there protection from Deities. The pressure on our son’s shoulders is enormous. We cannot help him at this time, so we must not add to his burden.”

Just like that, Romon and Marina watched their son from afar several times, but never once had a good look at Ace up close or had a proper conversation with him.

Ace and Romon clinked jars. Marina walked out carrying a steaming roasted leg of lamb. Seeing her son and husband, she smiled happily.

“How can you just drink? Wait a moment, I’ve prepared the meat and vegetables. I’ll bring them up for both of you right now.”

While speaking, Marina placed the roasted leg of lamb on the Nield log dining table in the dining room. This was a dining table cut from a Nield tree with a diameter of three meters, very precious.

Romon and Ace, father and son, placed their wine jars on the round table and walked into the kitchen to help Marina bring all the food out.

Fragrant lettuce soup, oily pan-fried foie gras, rich chicken soup, steaming roasted leg of lamb, and a whole roasted suckling pig. The aroma of food and wine mixed, making one salivate and appetite surge.

Marina cut a large piece of lamb with a sharp boning knife and placed it on Ace’s plate, then cut a slightly smaller piece for Romon, and finally a small piece for herself.

She wiped her somewhat greasy hands on her apron, poured herself a jar of wine, and said happily, “It’s rare for our son to come back. Let’s finish a jar first!”

Ace felt very ashamed. He had been obsessed with research and had neglected his parents’ feelings for several years continuously. He raised the wine jar and said somewhat chokingly, “Dad, Mom, it’s my fault for these years. I haven’t come back to accompany you. I toast to you.”

Romon laughed loudly, waved his hand, clinked jars with Ace, took a fierce sip, and said:

“How can a grown man stay at home with his parents every day? That would be too unpromising.

“Moreover, my son is the Firelinker Ace, the pioneer of the magic path, the guide of all wizards, the Golden Wizard who awed the Five Northern City-States. You are my glory, the glory of our family.

“However, Father has a small suggestion and wants to discuss it with you.”

As he spoke, Romon’s voice slowly lowered. He exchanged a glance with Marina somewhat awkwardly, humming and hawing vaguely.

Ace was a bit dazed. Looking at his parents’ strange expressions, he really couldn’t figure out what they were thinking. If he used dream magic, he could know their thoughts instantly, but living with family, how could he continue to rely on magic for understanding?

Ace sat up straight with a serious expression and said to his parents, “Whatever thoughts you two have, you can tell me directly. Even if it’s going to the Outer World  or the Reflection World, as long as I can do it, even cutting off a piece of a star is not impossible.”

Marina said somewhat hurriedly, “Not to that extent, not to that extent. Our idea is very simple, and very easy for you. Your dad and I are getting old, you know…”

Ace seemed to realize something. He said apologetically, “You cannot walk the path of magic, but you can practice the path of the Warrior to obtain the possibility of a longer lifespan. This is my mistake; I actually neglected the people around me!”

After speaking, Ace manifested two crystal-clear blood essence gems. Before Romon and Marina could say anything, he turned the blood essence gems into mist and poured it into their bodies.

Vigorous vitality exploded within Romon and Marina’s bodies. Golden-red rune structures appeared in Ace’s eyes. His silver-white hair danced with the mana as he carefully guided his parents to absorb the blood essence.

The wrinkles at the corners of Romon and Marina’s eyes and their greying hair changed at a speed visible to the naked eye. Their skin gradually became lustrous, their wrinkles smoothed out, and their greying hair returned to its original color.

With Ace’s help, the blood essence was quickly absorbed by their bodies, building a firm foundation for them. Although they were quite old and not very suitable for practicing the Warrior’s path, they couldn’t withstand the sheer amount of resources invested.

To put it bluntly, as long as enough vitality was invested, forcefully piling it up could also allow them to activate blood essence.

The atomized blood essence provided by Ace was quickly absorbed by Romon and Marina. Generally speaking, ordinary people would need half a year or even a year to fully absorb it.

But they were different. With Ace personally guiding and stimulating with mana, they successfully absorbed all the atomized blood essence. The vitality of the fifty trillion cells in their bodies was greatly enhanced. Ace gently stimulated their bodies with mana, guiding his parents to unconsciously perform the walking, sitting, and lying postures of the Blood-Food Circulation Method.

About half an hour later, wisps of blood essence were extracted from Romon and Marina’s bodies, rising to the sea of blood essence in their chests. The blood essence gradually gathered to the size of a fist, seemingly rumbling like lead and mercury.

Ace stopped the mana guidance. Romon and Marina slowly opened their eyes. They looked at each other and both discovered the huge changes in the other party.

After a round of looking in the mirror, shouting, and explaining, Romon and Marina recalled the main topic.

Marina said to Ace, “Our meaning wasn’t for youth and supernatural power, although this is also very good. Mom is very happy with the gift our son gave us.

“We still have our own thoughts. You are already thirty-five years old. You should know that even your dad was married and had you long before this age.

“Your dad married quite late. What I mean is, even if you don’t consider marriage, shouldn’t you consider leaving blood descendants?”
