Chapter 421: Stroll
Ace left home in a bit of a daze. The conversation with his parents kept swirling in his mind. As he walked along the Luminous Light River, he couldn’t help but sigh involuntarily.
He still remembered his shocked expression and answer at that time.
“Mother, I have no intention of romance. Perhaps my younger self once yearned for it, or even had a hazy infatuation.
“But now I feel these things are of no benefit to me. I am already a Golden Wizard, comparable to a Golden Hero among the Divine Descendants, and it is not impossible for me to reach a level comparable to a Legendary Hero in the future.”
Although Ace spoke modestly, his words carried a strong confidence. He believed that the path of the wizard would not end at the 4th Ring, and his future would have broader horizons.
Romon drank a jar somewhat excitedly and said to Ace, “I believe in my son. Your legendary experiences are even more legendary than the heroes in myths. Your future will definitely be more than this. Since Divine Descendants can surpass legends and become Demigods, why can’t my son do the same!”
Romon burped. His face was flushed red, already a bit drunk: “Maybe I, Romon, will have a Demigod son. From then on, our family can call ourselves the Ace Bloodline and take Ace as our surname!”
Romon, slurring his words slightly, had eyes full of longing. It was evident that he was extremely envious and desirous of the status of a Divine Descendant bloodline. Originally, the huge gap in status between mortals and Divine Descendants made Romon dare not imagine such a thing, but Ace’s tremendous achievements ignited a trace of ambition in Romon’s heart.
He was old and actually didn’t have much supernatural expectation for himself, but he had natural expectations for his descendants, hoping his family could continue endlessly and become a great family truly possessing a surname.
Ace was silent for a long time. Marina wiped her greasy hands repeatedly on her apron, grabbed Ace’s hand, and said:
“We aren’t forcing you to marry. We just hope to have a grandson or granddaughter. You don’t have much time to accompany us, so leaving a bloodline for us would be good too. I see Daina has always liked you and comes over to take care of us from time to time. This wine was bought by Daina. Why don’t you consider her?
“You are both those… Official Wizards. Daina is very quiet, a standard lady, not inferior to noble women. Her looks and figure are also good, and she likes you very much. There’s definitely no problem asking her to leave you a bloodline.”
Romon also approached Ace drunkenly, pressed his large palm on Ace’s shoulder, and said, “Don’t be shy. Although your old dad only got married and had you in his thirties, when I was fifteen or sixteen I… So, don’t be afraid. Be bold and brave, straightforward. Trust me, no problem!”
Marina also shifted closer to Ace and whispered, “If you really can’t save face, I’ll find time to talk to Daina. If you don’t like Daina, whichever witch in our High Tower Territory you fancy, Mom will go talk to her!”
Ace stopped the increasingly outrageous topic. He felt a bit parched and couldn’t keep a straight face. Ace, who usually had no expression all year round, actually blushed a little at this moment.
“I will consider what you said. Give me some time. Also, don’t act rashly!”
After speaking, Ace fled like the wind. Unknowingly, he walked slowly along the Luminous Light River. The sun was setting, and the evening glow reflected on the clear Luminous Light River, making it as bright red as the sky.
Just then, Ace saw a figure ahead. A slender figure, straight legs, looking like a beautiful oil painting under the setting sun.
The figure seemed to see Ace and walked quickly towards him. The figure’s legs were vigorous and powerful, arriving in front of Ace almost in a leap.
She panted softly, her face as rosy as the setting sun. It turned out to be Daina. She didn’t wear a magic robe today but wore a currently popular coastal-style outfit.
A short skirt above the knees, black long boots, tender white legs, a gathered half-sleeve shirt on her upper body, and the mysterious pendant Ace gave her hanging on her chest. Her eyes carried a trace of excitement and joy.
“I really met Lord Ace. I must seize the opportunity, seize the opportunity. I must use the move Auntie Marina taught me directly. This time I absolutely cannot return empty-handed like the previous few times!”
Daina screamed inwardly, but her expression became increasingly shy. She twiddled her fingers somewhat coyly like a young girl, her voice murmuring like a mosquito.
“I didn’t expect Lord Ace to be here too. What a coincidence.”
While speaking, Daina took a step forward, closed her eyes as if she lost her footing, tilted her body, and fell towards Ace’s embrace.
Seeing Daina suddenly falling towards him, Ace subconsciously activated the spell Hand of Spell. A hand composed of mana as tall as a person appeared abruptly, and Daina fell directly into the palm of the Hand of Spell.
Feeling somewhat hard, Daina opened her eyes and discovered it was the Hand of Spell. Frustration suddenly rose in her heart. She stood firm somewhat clumsily, too embarrassed to look at Ace.
“I, um…”
The more anxious she was, the less she could speak. Finally, Daina stomped her foot and said with a flushed face, “I still have things to do. I’ll go first, Lord Ace.”
Why are you such a coward, Daina!
She shouted violently in her heart, Say your thoughts out loud! Let Lord Ace know your feelings!
Looking at Daina’s figure running away quickly, Ace tilted his head. With a flash, he appeared in front of Daina. Unable to control their momentum, the two bumped heads with a clang.
Daina covered her forehead where a red mark appeared. Clearly not very painful, yet she felt inexplicably aggrieved.
Seeing Daina’s aggrieved expression, Ace’s mood suddenly became very heavy. Some heartstring seemed to be plucked. He couldn’t help but gently stroke Daina’s cheek and said softly, “There are some things I haven’t figured out yet. Can you wait for me?”
Daina looked at Ace with surprise, grievance, and doubt. Endless love was hidden in her beautiful eyes. She suddenly recalled the time she and Ace once strolled hand in hand in the Northern Fortress. So she subconsciously held Ace’s hand and said somewhat shyly, “Walk with me, okay?”
Ace was somewhat stunned. A fragment also flashed in his mind. “Himself” had once strolled through the streets and alleys with Daina, and that affectionate embrace. This was the choice of the clone. The clone’s memory would forever remain in Ace’s mind; this was also a possibility of his life.
Invisible Concealment activated. Ace and Daina held hands as if no one was around. No one discovered the Firelinker of the High Tower Territory in close contact with a female Official Wizard. Everything was so natural. The two enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the city to their heart’s content, and night slowly fell.
A very pure, very reassuring feeling. As the night deepened, Ace walked Daina back to her residence and left naturally.
Daina covered her face. Her completely flushed face seemed to have wisps of steam rising from it. She tried hard to mentally prepare herself and finally opened her cherry lips to ask Ace to stay, only to find that he had long since disappeared.
