Chapter 441: Waves
Just as Sulu and Warren were talking, Ace wrapped up a magic scroll and gently tapped the table three times.
A wooden bird emerged from the table surface and gently pecked at Ace’s palm. Ace placed the magic scroll in its mouth and gave it a gentle push. The scroll, which was three times longer than the wooden bird, surprisingly went directly into its belly.
Faint runes flickered on the wooden bird’s body. Its eyes turned into Dream Badges, and with a flap of its wings, it transformed into a cloud of dream mist, passing through the wall and flying toward the High Tower outside the city.
Fourth floor of the High Tower, Scroll Distribution Room.
Alarm bells rang out, and beige light flickered. Shadow Crows appeared out of thin air from the magic circle, spitting out scrolls one by one.
The advanced wizard apprentice responsible for distributing scrolls skillfully picked up the scrolls with a Hand of Mana and sorted them expressionlessly.
Toot toot toot!
Dream mist flashed past, and a wooden bird appeared out of thin air, spitting out a long scroll. The eyes of the advanced wizard apprentice, who was sorting scrolls expressionlessly, suddenly widened.
“Lord Ace’s Dream Badge? Important paper, forward to the Magic Council Review Committee!”
Top floor of the High Tower, Polina, Caruso, and Lucilu were on duty. The magic circle not far away flickered with beige light, and a scroll imprinted with the Dream Badge appeared before their eyes.
The three gasped. Continuous theoretical innovations had already overwhelmed them psychologically. They looked at each other and saw the worry in each other’s eyes. Polina plucked up her courage and said, “Don’t worry too much. We have already integrated our spell models into the artifact blanks. With the safety valve, there won’t be any danger to our lives.”
As she spoke, she walked forward and bent down to pick up the scroll on the ground, acting as cautiously as if picking up an unstable tube of nitroglycerin.
Just as Polina was about to open the scroll, Caruso held her hand down, his expression firm and decisive: “Give it to me. I’ll read it first.”
Polina looked at the resolute Caruso and smiled gently. She tried to push his hand away but was held firmly. The two argued for a while until Lucilu couldn’t stand it anymore. He snatched the scroll and shouted loudly, “Stop being so lovey-dovey. Let me see what it is exactly.”
Polina and Caruso looked at Lucilu, who had already opened the scroll, with eyes full of worry and anticipation. Lucilu’s hands trembled slightly. Forcing himself to be calm, he sat down and slowly opened the scroll.
He chanted silently in his heart: I have reconstructed the Natal Star and Fire spell models according to the new theories. There won’t be any problems… there won’t be…
Looking at the scroll tremblingly, what met his eyes was a series of dazing numbers and images. Lucilu looked carefully at the title and then at the content, feeling increasingly dazed.
“How is it?”
Seeing that Lucilu had been reading for a long time without any issues, Caruso plucked up the courage to ask.
Lucilu clutched his head and stuffed the scroll into Caruso’s hands: “Read it yourself. It’s really hard to describe…”
The scar on Caruso’s face twitched slightly. He felt his blood vessels throbbing. After looking down for a while, he said to Polina, “I suggest convening a Review Committee meeting. We need to discuss this paper collectively.”
An hour later, all Official Wizards except Ace had arrived at the top floor of the High Tower. They passed around Ace’s paper and discussed it in low voices.
Bayen’s eyes were sparkling, as if he had discovered some mysterious delicacy. He said loudly, “This is simply an epoch-making masterpiece! It can allow us to construct spell models and meditation environments more effectively without blowing our heads off. The only requirement is to have a good foundation in mathematics! I propose to print Lord Ace’s monograph separately as a supplement to the Magic journal!”
The next day, the Magic journal released a supplement. The entire High Tower Territory was in an uproar and panic. People in the streets and alleys were all discussing this supplement.
“I heard that this supplement is a monograph by Lord Ace, and the whole book was written by him.”
“Yeah, I heard it’s extremely profound. Many advanced wizard apprentices and even Official Wizards who have read it frowned deeply.”
“That’s not important. What’s important is, did anyone lose their head because of it?”
“I haven’t heard of that. Maybe it’s because of the widespread use of Natal Artifacts?”
“I think that’s unlikely. The hardest part of a Natal Artifact lies in the endowment of Will. Until now, only a scattered few have succeeded in giving their Natal Artifacts a complete form. Most people only have a blank, which I’m afraid isn’t enough to serve as a safety valve against head explosions.”
“Not necessarily. A few days ago, after Warren proposed the Three Laws of Planetary Motion, several advanced wizard apprentices had their Natal Stars shatter. If not for the artifact blanks blocking it, I’m afraid their skulls would have been crushed on the spot.
“I suspect that Lord Ace proposed the Theory of Artifacts at this time precisely for the heavyweight theoretical innovations that would follow…”
While talking, a group of people got the latest Magic supplement. The thin Luther gently opened the supplement. He was an intermediate wizard apprentice. Being weak, he was actually not afraid of head explosions because he didn’t have a Soul Sanctuary at all.
Luther was among the first batch of freed slaves from the North. He worked in the farmlands outside the city for seven years before finally obtaining the qualification for Mental overdrive. With one overdrive, he successfully entered the Magic School to study.
“I don’t know if Dad, Mom, and my little sister are still alive. I asked the wizard apprentices in Norton City-State a few times but got nothing. When I advance to an advanced wizard apprentice, I will go to the North to take up a post so it will be convenient to look for them!”
Thinking this, Luther looked at the Magic supplement in his hand. A line of letters came into view: “Calculus.”
Luther looked at this brand-new word in front of him. He was certain he had never seen it before. It was probably another original creation of Lord Ace. He subconsciously read it in a somewhat strange tone: “Cal-cu-lus… what a strange word.”
At the same time, more and more wizards bought the latest Magic supplement. They looked at this thick journal with fearful eyes but couldn’t help opening it, as if tempted by a devil, involuntarily.
When they saw the content clearly, their fearful hearts slowly settled down, and they began to scratch their ears and cheeks in thought.
Betty was reading Calculus while calculating seriously. Her eyes were sparkling bright, and she muttered to herself.
“Limit thinking… Limit! Why didn’t I think of that? It can also converge infinitely, and there’s this form of expression!”
At Daina’s villa, Daina, wearing pink pajamas, was holding a magic scroll under the moonlight. Her straight calves were as tender and white as snow. She yawned somewhat lazily and flipped through Calculus.
As she continued reading, Daina was gradually attracted by magical mathematical concepts such as “Differential Calculus, Integral Calculus, Derivatives,” etc. She unconsciously constructed a meditation spell model and subconsciously used the method of finding derivatives to improve it.
