Chapter 460: Weighing
Warren’s gaze was torch-like as he murmured:
“To know the mass of the Earth Center, I need to know the radius of the Earth Center beneath our feet! Since we consider the Earth Center to be a sphere, I only need to know the angle of the sun’s direct rays at two different locations to determine the circumference of the earth, and thereby calculate the radius.
“It’s too simple. Knowledge of elementary mathematics is sufficient.”
Warren tossed the half-written magic scroll aside, opened the door of the sealed room, and ran loudly up to the top floor. Sulu was a bit confused; he hesitated for a moment, put away the floating scroll, and followed Warren upstairs.
When he climbed to the roof, he found that Warren had turned the place where he kept his observation data into a mess. He was muttering words like “direct rays,” “angle,” and “distance,” leaving Sulu at a loss.
“Found it, found it!”
Warren acted like a madman. He had found the solar direct ray data he had collected when he served as the President of the Local Magic Council in the northern Milne City-State.
“The angle is …, the distance to the High Tower Territory is …, plus the data I measured at the High Tower…”
He rummaged for a while longer and finally found it. Combining the two sets of data, he easily calculated the degrees from the center of the Earth Center to the two points, and subsequently calculated the circumference and radius.
Just as Warren turned around, he found Sulu handing him the magic scroll. He smiled slightly at Sulu, and with trembling fingers, wrote on the scroll with a quill:
“The measurement method for the radius of the Earth Center is as follows… From this, we know the radius of the Earth Center is (R), and since the Gravitational Constant is (G), according to Ace’s Formula, the mass of the Earth Center is (M).”
As the quill finished writing these few words, Warren seemed to have exhausted all his strength and slumped there. Thunder roared outside the window, the morning sun was rising, and the Great Source rejoiced. A massive amount of aura poured into Warren’s body, and a tiny amount poured into Sulu.
Warren’s fatigue instantly diminished. The Torsion Balance from his experiment suddenly broke through the sealed room and flew to Warren’s side. Under the cleansing of the Great Source aura, it underwent a rapid transformation alongside Warren.
Warren’s momentum rose step by step. Ace, who was outside the villa, also felt it. He exchanged a glance with Bayen, confirming that it was a breakthrough.
Undoubtedly, under the feedback of the Great Source, Warren successfully became a Level 2 Wizard. His Soul Sanctuary expanded rapidly, transforming into a hollow mental imagery world.
Because of the cleansing by the Great Source aura, the Torsion Balance was thoroughly transformed into a magical item and runified. It actually turned into a unique Golden Spell Model and instantly entered Warren’s empty mental imagery world.
Warren’s strength also instantly reached the Level 2 Peak, becoming another Golden Wizard.
Ace also felt the vibration. His clone within the Wizard’s Subconscious Sea suddenly opened its eyes. White light bloomed, and Ace instantly resonated with the clone, receiving information feedback.
The entire Subconscious Sea was no longer the prototype it once was; it was now a surging ocean. After Ace advanced to Level 3 Wizard and several wizards advanced to Level 2, the entire Subconscious Sea had completely taken shape.
It was the collective subconscious of the wizards, settling their memories. According to the Original Contract, Ace obtained the spell model that Warren gained from the Great Source feedback.
That magical Torsion Balance Spell Model also appeared in Ace’s mental imagery world. Magic bestowed upon the torsion balance power far beyond the ordinary. At Level 2, it could measure constants and slightly alter them. At Level 3, it had the immense potential to twist gravity and change the Gravitational Constant!
Ace’s eyes flickered with white light. His mind sank into the mental imagery world and merged with his True Spirit, holding this Golden Spell Model high and observing it seriously.
“Many Golden Runes are similar to the Level 3 Gravity Runes I discovered. Deriving from this should be easy.”
The cowlick on top of Ace’s head shook violently. At the Legendary level, the cowlick’s quasi-rule deduction ability only served as a boost for Ace, and the effect was much weaker.
Fortunately, this deduction was not from scratch but using similarities as substitutes, so the speed was much faster. In less than half an hour, Ace deduced the Level 3 Runes for this torsion balance-shaped spell model.
This was a structure bestowed by the Great Source, extremely perfect, with almost no need for modification. Ace embedded this rune structure directly into the spell model “Universal Gravitation,” merging them perfectly.
At the same time, a phantom image of a Torsion Balance Noble Phantasm appeared in Ace’s dream starry sky world.
Ace’s True Spirit eyes flickered with white light as he whispered: “This Noble Phantasm phantom can become reality as long as it is filled with enough resources. It shall be called the Noble Phantasm ‘Constant Torsion Balance’.”
Thirteen Noble Phantasm Stars surrounded the phantom image. Ace’s True Spirit floated beneath it, the Glazed Heart Fire atop his head slowly resonating with it. This was also a method of nurturing. Using existing Noble Phantasms combined with mental focus and Heart Fire to cast it together, only this method of nurturing took an extremely long time.
A Level 3 Legendary existence had a lifespan of a thousand years, yet it was difficult to nurture Noble Phantasms this way even a few times. The vast majority of Legendary Heroes specialized in one domain and only possessed one Noble Phantasm in their entire lives.
When Ace opened his eyes, everyone was looking at him with concern. Warren and Sulu had also come out and waited for some time.
“Lord Ace, are you alright?” Daina asked with some worry.
Ace shook his head: “I just suddenly thought of a mathematical problem and got lost in thought for a moment. Congratulations, Warren. Congratulations on discovering new mysteries in the field of mechanics, and congratulations on becoming a Golden Wizard!”
Ace’s “Eye of True Knowledge” had not dissipated. In his eyes, Warren was surrounded by the aura of the Great Source, wrapped in pale gold and pure red—precisely the limit of Level 2 Life, a Golden Wizard.
Warren was also very excited. He had a premonition that this discovery might bring cognitive feedback from the Great Source, but when his strength truly increased greatly because of it, and he obtained a heaven-bestowed spell model, he was uncontrollably agitated.
“Lord Ace, it is all thanks to the Universal Gravitation Formula you discovered that Sulu and I could successfully measure the Earth Center Gravitational Constant and the Earth Center Mass. We ‘weighed’ the Earth Center!”
These words were like a shot of adrenaline, lifting everyone’s spirits. Thoth’s clone, who had just arrived, also trembled. Even a True God might not know the weight of the Earth Center, let alone any Gravitational Constant. Deities were only omniscient within their own domains. Perhaps the Earth Mother Goddess knew, but She would never tell anyone.
Thoth couldn’t help but applaud loudly, attracting everyone’s attention. He did not hide his whereabouts; his whole body shrouded in the brilliance of divine power.
Ace led the wizards to bow to Him hurriedly. Thoth waved his hand and said: “You have surprised me too much. To think that the study of magic could achieve such a great discovery. I feel very honored to be the protector of wizards! In terms of existence level and absolute power, I am stronger than you, but on the path of magic, you are my teachers.”
The wizards hurriedly returned the courtesy, claiming they dared not accept such praise. They all knew that Thoth was very interested in magic, even incarnating to study in the Magic School.
After encouraging Warren with a few words, Thoth floated away.
