Chapter 526: Ten Years

The grand knight tournament began after several modifications and promotions. The landless young nobles were divided into two batches for competition.

The first batch consisted of those with regular features; they fought as husband candidates for Eleina. The second batch was a large number of nobles with mediocre appearances who came here; they competed purely in literary and martial arts.

Durnas Beckley (Eliena) attended in full dress. Having become a Vampire, she was even more bright and moving. The young nobles originally aimed to become the Baroness’s husband and heir to the Count’s title. Seeing Durnas’s brightness, their fighting spirit soared even higher.

Gaining both status and a beauty was simply what most people dreamed of.

After that, Durnas sat on the high platform with the Count, watching the knights shed hot blood. Although training lances and heavy wooden swords were used for all mounted and foot combat, casualties still occurred.

Several unlucky knights were knocked off their horses by their opponents’ lances and fell to their deaths.

At the moment they fell to their death, Elina’s Fate Points increased. Most only increased by thirty or fifty, but a knight who broke his leg and fell to his death increased her Fate Points by nearly a thousand.

Seeing this, Elina’s eyes lit up. She looked at the treasure worth a thousand Fate Points in the exchange function and bit her lower lip.

[Low-level Eye of Fate: I believe you have discovered that the so-called Fate Point is the manifestation of the Power of Fate. When you exchange for this treasure, you will gain the ability to peep into others’ Power of Fate and Threads of Fate. Current peeping limit: Power of Fate 1000, Threads of Fate 10.]

As long as she exchanged for this treasure, she could gain the ability to observe the vague fate state of others. Elina thought for a while. She had more than four thousand Fate Points, which was still far from the ten thousand needed to exchange for the Baron-level Vampire Bloodline.

Investing a thousand points might allow her to obtain Fate Points more specifically. Thinking of this, Elina hesitated no more and directly exchanged for the [Low-level Eye of Fate].

Her right eye felt slightly painful. After closing her eyes for a while and opening them again, she found the world had changed greatly.

Two strings of numbers appeared above everyone’s head. She turned her head to look above the Count’s head: [Fate point: 1000+, Fate Threads: 10+]. Does it seem to have hit the cap? Elina pondered.

She observed other people and gradually summarized the pattern. Most landless nobles had a Fate point between 30 and 100. Ordinary people rarely exceeded 30. Nobles with titles and territories, even a landed knight, would not have a Fate point lower than 100, and barons were above 1000.

inferring from this, the Count’s Fate point was estimated to be over ten thousand. The higher the authority , the more points? Elina summarized secretly.

But upon careful observation, she discovered anomalies. Some people were clearly just landless nobles or even onlookers, yet they had Fate point points far exceeding their own class. Not only that, but some old objects or certain sacred relics and strange items also had complex Threads of Fate and extremely high Fate points.

“Exchanging for this thing is indeed worth it. Although I can only see within a thousand, it’s enough. Being able to discover so many people above a thousand saves me a lot of work.”

Elina’s eyes shone. She clapped her hands vigorously and cheered with the crowd.

A week later, Elina took four young nobles with Fate point over 1000 and seven or eight ordinary people with high authority values to her barony.

Should I kill these people or transform them all into Vampires? Which is more effective? Elina thought while trimming her nails in the carriage. In any case, she successfully obtained the opportunity for independent development. As for what would happen in two years, many things would change.

..

Bruce lay prone on the damp street, looking at his Fate Points. In three months, he had adapted to the life of crawling on the ground. The few copper coins obtained from begging each time were always snatched away by that strong man. The few times he secretly hid them, they were discovered later, and he was beaten severely.

Scalded with hot water, doused with cold water, tied to a wooden stick and roasted with fire… if not for sustaining that one breath of spirit, Bruce would probably have been tortured to death.

He profoundly felt the helplessness of losing power. Even accumulating blood energy was impossible. He couldn’t eat enough at all. Being bony and having a fragile body, forcibly accumulating blood energy under these circumstances would probably lead directly to death.

Bruce restrained his personality, as if he had become another person. Begging desperately every day to make money and dedicating it all to the strong man, gradually the strong man relaxed his vigilance against him. Although he still couldn’t eat enough, he wasn’t beaten much anymore.

They lived in a tent next to a garbage dump not far from here. Most of the children had their legs broken and had difficulty moving, so this criminal gang wasn’t afraid of them running away.

Bruce did not truly submit. He was looking for revenge and a way to survive. When begging, he often heard the conversations of nearby pedestrians and knew that a “good thing” hidden in the garbage dump could be used by him.

This unknown town recently had an outbreak of a terrible plague. Locals called it the Rat Plague. It was said that rats were the source of this disease, and hundreds of people had already died.

People wrapped the corpses in thick cloth, rolled them in straw mats, and buried them on the spot. They killed rats everywhere, smashed them to death, and buried them.

North of this garbage dump was the burial ground for those rats and patients, sprinkled with a lot of quicklime. Taking advantage of the night, Bruce crawled slowly to the north, covered his mouth and nose with thick cloth soaked in water, and started digging.

About an hour later, he returned near the tent with a small piece of rotten flesh from a patient wrapped in rags.

The night was quiet. Bruce crushed the meat and sprinkled it into the water vat, then crawled to his nest to sleep.

A few days later, the criminal gang and most of the children were infected with the Rat Plague. Bruce also obtained nearly a hundred Fate Points. He recovered his walking ability through the exchange function and quietly escaped from here.

“Finally free. It seems that as long as a major change is produced, Fate Points can be obtained. In this way, killing should be the fastest method to obtain Fate Points.”

The thin and small Bruce went to the plague area where ordinary people dared not go. He found a job there, taking care of plague patients and giving severe patients a quick death.

After killing hopeless patients many times, Bruce finally exchanged for mind ovedrive and re-mastered magical power. A message suddenly popped up in his empty task bar.

[Congratulations, dreamwalker. You have successfully achieved mind overdrive and stepped onto the Path of Magic again. The Holy Light – Blue Blood World is a standard magic desert. The great Firelinker has handed the torch to you, hoping you can spread the Path of Magic in this world.

This is a multiplayer Main Task. Every overdrive will receive this task. Specific task rewards are determined according to each person’s contribution.]

As a skilled “Fantasia” dreamwalker , Bruce accepted the Main Task directly without hesitation.

Under the Main Task, the first sub-task appeared: [Become an Intermediate Apprentice. Task completion reward: 1000 Fate Points].

Bruce closed the prompt expressionlessly. Taking advantage of the night, he began to outline the secondary mana #3 with his spiritual power. Nearly ten thousand wizards descended into the Holy Light – Blue Blood World this time, and they entered the state of mind overdrive one after another.

In addition, Warriors, Knights, and Vampires also descended into this world. They all had their own Main Tasks. This world was about to welcome a brand new supernatural reform.

Ace had already left the Kingdom of Hill. Having descended in his true body, he obtained a large amount of Power of Fate feedback and a small amount of Source Power feedback from the crowd in these three months.

His strength had also reached the peak of Legend. With the blessing of a large amount of Power of Fate, he achieved Eternal Epic.

Seeing Ace again in the palace three months after his disappearance, Yamila was unusually joyful. She asked reproachfully yet worriedly: “Where did you go after that Mass?”

Ace’s thirteen Star Noble Phantasms suddenly appeared behind him. Starlight illuminated the entire palace, holy and inviolable. He spoke in a solemn voice: “The Angel King usurped the divine authority. I am a clone of the Holy Light, realized only today. Religion should be reformed; the great Holy Light should be recast. Are you willing to help me, my Righteous King?”

Colorless dreams began to disperse, covering the entire Kingdom of Hill in a very short time. No one knew what Ace and Yamila discussed in secret.

From that day on, the Kingdom of Hill changed nationwide. Righteous King Yamila declared that the Angel King usurped divine authority, and the whole country converted to the New Holy Light. The New Testament also gradually added content about dreams. Nearby kingdoms united to crusade against the Kingdom of Hill, but fell into the mist at Rolling Valley Pass and returned in a great defeat.

Rumors about the New Holy Light began to circulate in various kingdoms. At the same time, a power called Magic spread simultaneously in various parts of the continent. They called themselves Wizards and mastered magical power through meditation.

Ten years passed in a flash. The Kingdom of Hill conquered east and west, defeating several nearby great kingdoms and establishing the New Holy Light Church with the Dream God as the faith. They claimed that the Holy Light was one aspect of the Dream God, the world was but a great dream, and only by believing in the great Dream God could one escape sin.

In the cold northern snowy region, a Grand Wizard named Bayen, called the Nature Venerable by everyone, was born out of nowhere. He integrated the barbarians and established the Magic Guild of Northern Wizards.

Dozens of large and small principalities and kingdoms in the south of the continent also united. This place was a mixture of fish and dragons. The Vampire Clan was born mysteriously from the Principality of Aaron and soon spread all over the south of the continent. Wizard forces also appeared here. Three Grand Wizards—Betty, Polina, and Caruso—established the Magic Council here. The Magic Council fought a great battle with the Vampire Council, incorporated the Vampires, and together with the Warrior Guild, the three forces merged to establish the Southern Alliance.

Although the people here still believed in the Holy Light, more people worshipped magic. The upper and middle classes trusted the power of magic more. From kings to grand dukes, from grand dukes to counts, almost all courts invited Court Wizards. Even though they were just some wizard apprentices, they still fascinated the nobles.

Other regions of the continent also had ambiguous attitudes towards wizards. This group rose too fast, with many means and strong power. The Knights of the Holy Light had no way to resist at all. Because the vast majority of wizards had different origins, with their own large and small organizations and distinctive rules, the entire continent was treacherous for a time.

Bruce  had reunited with his little friends Allen, Eva, and Luther. After the plague ended, Bruce went to Turstu, a border city of the Kingdom of Durus, to serve as an executioner. Here Bruce worked for three years, casually exchanged for the [Primary Eye of Fate], and soon became a Level 1 Wizard.

After that, he began to recruit disciples gradually and established a small wizard organization, “Bruce’s Hut.” The organization’s emblem was an open book on a hexagram base.

With the expansion of the organization, Bruce’s organization began to communicate and conflict with other wizard organizations, gradually finding his few little friends. The organizations of the four merged into a medium-sized organization named “Mechanical Hut.” The emblem was a hexagram base, a difference engine in the middle, and an open book on top.

They constructed a large magical difference engine in the Kingdom of Durus and sealed it in a different dimension. In nearly ten years, they almost subverted the entire Kingdom of Durus, but failed on the verge of success. An Angel King descended suddenly; Eva perished on the spot, and the other three fled to the Southern Alliance with the remaining wizards.

Luther had advanced to a Level 2 Wizard and became an elder of the Magic Council of the Southern Alliance. This made Bruce somewhat envious. After all, the power obtained in this world was real power. Once back, Luther would be a real Level 2 Wizard.

The unluckiest one was Eva, who happened to encounter the descent of the Angel King, perished directly, and her consciousness returned.

The Magic Council had its own city in the Southern Alliance, named High Tower. This was a veritable tower-shaped city. Bruce  strolled on the third floor, looking at the bustling crowd nearby, as if returning to the real High Tower.

“Iam a bit homesick. But I haven’t advanced to Level 2 yet, so I can’t rush back now. However, this descent is too weird. That woman is clearly a fake dream life; how could she appear here?”

Looking at the bronze statue of Elina erected in the square, Bruce  felt somewhat depressed. Even this vampire woman achieved the rank of Count (Level 2), while he was still wasting time at Level 1. It shouldn’t be like this.

Just as he was letting his imagination run wild, a group of wizards suddenly rushed over. The leader was a bald wizard. Showing his badge, he said to him: “You are Wizard Bruce, right? I am Gordan Caro from the Secretariat of the Magic Council. By order of Speaker Excellency Betty, please come.”

Bruce checked the other party’s badge carefully. After confirming it was correct, he said: “What matter?”

Gordan shook his head slightly and said solemnly: “Her Excellency didn’t say. Please cooperate.”

Bruce frowned and shrugged, flying towards the top floor with them.

Arriving at the Speaker’s office in the Magic Council headquarters, he found that Luther and Allen were both there. He felt slightly relieved. Just as he was about to ask, he found a group of wizards had already entered. The leader was the petite Betty. Behind her were several famous people: Warren, Polina, Caruso, Sulu, Olli, and others were all present.

Betty waved her hand to stop them from standing up to greet her and said straightforwardly: “Only you have seen the Angel King descend. We need exact intelligence now so we can inform Lord Ace!”

Bruce  and the others dared not neglect. They hurriedly described the situation at that time clearly, then asked Betty curiously: “I wonder where Lord Ace is now?”

Sulu shouted softly: “Don’t ask about things you shouldn’t ask. Lord Ace’s whereabouts are top secret.”

Warren pressed Sulu’s shoulder and said softly: “Don’t be so harsh. However, Lord Ace’s whereabouts indeed cannot be told to you. Luther stay; you two go back first.”
