Chapter 510: Arrival
Descending abruptly into another kingdom’s territory at meteor-fall speed without any prior notification was undeniably an act of declaration of war anywhere. Being intercepted mid-air was only to be expected.
In fact, Punk had been fully prepared to battle the Master-Level expert who might emerge from Red Roy City during his rapid descent. However… clearly, not all Kingdom Protectors maintained sufficient vigilance against sudden assaults. This was especially true for combat professionals incapable of setting up high-level alarm arrays or using Divination Spells to detect enemies—these unfortunate practitioners could only sense intruders once they entered their perception range. By the time they rushed from their residences, it was often too late to prevent the enemy’s actions. Thus, the primary role of Master-Level experts, particularly Master-Level combat professionals stationed in a kingdom, wasn’t defense but… retaliation.
Unfortunately, Punk and Kane feared no such retaliation.
Moreover, the streaking figures of Punk and Kane bursting through the clouds resembled nothing more than miniature burning meteors. From insufficiently close distances, most commoners and even Formal-Level experts on the streets merely glanced up before losing interest.
Miraculously, Punk and Kane’s assault proceeded completely unimpeded. Not until the entire layout of Red Roy City unfolded clearly before Punk’s eyes did the three rapidly descending figures encounter any interception.
It had to be admitted—in a small, peaceful nation accustomed to prolonged peacetime, those capable of maintaining constant vigilance against disasters were ultimately far too few…
“Cool!” Kane laughed uproariously while accelerating further. “This kingdom’s so-called Protector must be a complete fool. By the time he reacts, we’ll be long gone, keke-keke-keke!”
“Stay alert, Kane! We’re about to land.” Ignoring Kane’s gleeful cackling, Punk began seriously preparing spells as an ornate building loomed increasingly closer.
“Master-Level Conjuration Spell—Dust Feather Fall!”
This Master-Level spell could neutralize massive impact forces. Even with Punk’s velocity exceeding eighty times the speed of sound, the ground impact would remain within manageable parameters. On one hand, Smile’s fragile constitution couldn’t withstand excessive shockwaves; on the other… to maximize efficiency, Punk and Kane intended to land as close as possible to the second Godchild’s location. It would be utterly farcical if their target got killed by excessive impact forces.
“Are you certain it’s this building, Smile? Our time is limited. I’ve no opportunity to carefully scan for troublesome enemies nearby. The urgency permits no errors!”Officially entering Red Roy City’s airspace, the Master-Level powerhouses in the city should have already detected the abnormality of the “meteor” by now. Thus, Punk questioned Smile with utmost seriousness. His goal was to kidnap a Godchild, and while carrying the fragile “young lady” Smile, Punk needed to avoid any combat as much as possible.
Struggling to endure the weightlessness of rapid descent, Smile clearly heard Punk’s words. She understood what he meant by “no mistakes allowed,” so she didn’t respond immediately. After intently sensing the guidance of her bloodline for two or three seconds, she nodded firmly at Punk:
“Indeed, this is the place. This humble one is absolutely certain! The Godchild should be near the entrance of this ornate building. If we land in the center, we can ensure he remains unharmed.”
“Kekekekeke, then let’s hurry down! Looks like there’s a gathering of people in this building, right? Let’s just blast open the roof of this ‘little palace.’ Making a flashy entrance from above is just so~ cool!”
Though his words seemed to seek Punk’s opinion, Kane’s actions showed no intention of waiting for a reply. The excited Knight directly aimed his Lance at the rooftop of the ornate building below and then…
“Boom”!!
The term “blast open” was no exaggeration. The rapidly descending Knight didn’t even wait for Punk’s Dust Feather Fall enhancement. He thrust his Lance directly into the rock above the palace, and with an explosive burst of bright yellow Battle Aura, the sturdy granite was instantly shattered into fragments by the terrifying impact.
“What a madman!”
Shaking his head in disbelief, Punk watched as Kane truly blasted open the building’s roof. He could only cast Dust Feather Fall on himself and Smile before descending slowly.
He wasn’t worried about Kane reducing the Godchild to mincemeat—after all, according to Smile’s perception, the yet-to-awaken Godchild was located near the entrance of the ornate building. Though Kane was excited, he still exercised restraint when taking action. The shattered rocks were deliberately flung far away, ensuring this spectacular entrance wouldn’t harm the Godchild.
However, though the “Godchild” remained unharmed, when Punk descended through the hole blasted by Kane into the building, he couldn’t help but frown.
It had to be admitted that Kane’s grand entrance was undoubtedly spectacular, but what annoyed Punk was—Kane had been far too flashy.
The interior of the building was even more extravagant than its exterior. The entire structure was designed like a stadium-style clubhouse. The spot where Punk now stood was an open, flat granite area, surrounded by rows of ornately decorated, plush seats.Looking around at the people seated in the ornate chairs, dressed in lavish clothing with dazed expressions, and then glancing at the mangled flesh and metal fragments in the impact crater left by Kane’s landing… Punk quickly realized—this building was unmistakably an arena, and a high-end one at that. The nobles seated in the rows of spectator stands to watch the gladiatorial matches were proof, while the remains of flesh and metal in the crater… were undoubtedly the gladiators who had just been pulverized by Kane’s “aerial descent” spear technique…
“Damn it, Kane, look at the mess you’ve made. Did your flashy entrance have to complicate our mission?”
Ignoring the stunned, gaping nobles in the audience, Punk bluntly criticized Kane’s recklessness without holding back.
After all, simply barging into the airspace above a kingdom’s royal capital was enough to draw the attention of the Kingdom Protector. Now, Punk and Kane had landed and caused destruction right where a large number of nobles were gathered. If the Master-Level Kingdom Protector didn’t want his kingdom thrown into chaos by the deaths of so many nobles, he would have to rush over immediately. This undoubtedly increased the likelihood of a confrontation with enemies during the “kidnapping operation,” which was why Punk voiced his displeasure with sarcasm.
As for Kane… this guy showed no remorse whatsoever. Just like Punk, he ignored the shocked nobles and replied with a maniacal laugh:
“Keh keh keh keh, relax, relax! It was just a ‘brilliant’ entrance, no big deal. We’ll definitely have enough time to take away the Godchild we’ve never met. Hell, I might even have fun slaughtering all those ‘spectators’ for some entertainment!”
Please give some recommendation votes, dear readers—you’re the best!
