Chapter 244: The Crossroads

While the secret meeting of the Magic Council Members was convening, Carlo stood at the main gate of the Magic Castle, his emotions surging.

“Seven years have passed since Lord Ace established the High Tower Territory. Today, April 1st, Year 7 of the Magic Calendar, I, Carlo, have finally become a Wizard Apprentice!”

Filled with heroic spirit, he entered the hall of the Magic Castle, looking up at the transparent dome with ambition.

Carlo soon arrived at the legendary New Student Registration Desk.

“Why are you here at this time? Unified registration for new students is in September every year. You are too early.”

Hearing this, Carlo felt as if a basin of cold water had been poured over his enthusiasm. He felt a mix of emotions.

He walked out of the Magic Castle somewhat dejectedly. Having to wait another half year before he could learn magic from the teachers of the Elementary Magic School was simply too unbearable.

“Student, student!”

A voice suddenly reached Carlo’s ears. He looked back and saw a tall, thin, black-haired male wizard in a black Magic Robe with a flashing hexagonal Magic Badge on his chest, waving at him.

A Mid-level Wizard Apprentice, Carlo thought. With the mindset of not offending anyone, he walked over slowly. The tall, thin, black-haired wizard revealed a fox-like smile and said to Carlo:

“I see you haven’t registered yet. Come join the Warren Preparatory Class. Advanced Wizard Apprentice Warren teaches personally. It only costs three Lesser Mana Stones!”

Carlo had indeed heard of Advanced Wizard Apprentice Warren; the “Warren Dilemma” was a household name. Carlo was indeed tempted, but he said with some regret: “Respected Sir Mid-level Wizard Apprentice, although I really want to join, I have no money.”

The black-haired wizard smiled slyly and said: “Just call me Sulu. We provide an advance service. You can attend classes and learn first. Once you are able to attend school, you just need to pay us five Lesser Mana Stones over five years.”

While Sulu was tempting Carlo to join the so-called Warren Preparatory Class, Eddie had already arrived at the Administration Office.

Unable to link to the Magic Network, Eddie felt he had lost almost all his joy. After thinking for a few days, he made up his mind to sign up for the task: [Clear the Unknown Monster Group in the Northern Mining Area].

Many Wizard Apprentices had already gathered in the lobby on the first floor of the Administration Office. Many apprentices were surrounding Chief Magistrate Leon, saying something.

Leon wore a standard black Magic Robe with a dark blue lapel, and a hexagonal badge flashed on his chest. He was already a Mid-level Wizard Apprentice.

As the father of the mental talent genius Betty, his mental talent and academic ability were both decent. He had successfully graduated early from the Elementary Magic School in just four years.

“Fellow practitioners, we are all Wizard Apprentices. We must maintain our composure. Trust the Magic Council, trust Lord Ace. The Magic Network will resume operation in a month. Please wait patiently.”

The Wizard Apprentices dared not go to the Magic Castle to complain to Ace, nor did they dare to question the experiment from that day.

Everyone knew that the experiment must have caused the Magic Network to be unusable, though they didn’t know the specific reason.

However, much of their knowledge and data were stored in the Magic Dream Crystal Sphere, the hub of the Magic Network, so they couldn’t help but be anxious.

Comforted by Leon, the crowd’s emotions gradually calmed down. Eddie did not go to watch. After listening to the discussion from the side, he directly signed up for the task of clearing the Monster group.

After doing all this, Eddie took his Magic Carpet to Bayen’s residence. Being idle these few days, he might as well rent a Magic Array to create some Lesser Mana Stones.

Sunset, West Tower of the Magic Castle.

The secret meeting had ended. Ace handed over specific affairs to Daina and Bayen respectively. He sealed the West Tower and activated the defense facilities, concentrating on studying the changes after his ascension.

Both his body and soul had reached the Level 1 Life Tier. His body surged with vigorous vitality at all times, and his soul was exceptionally clear and in excellent condition.

“Inject vitality into the soul.”

Ace maintained a meditative state, slowly guiding the vitality of his physical body, injecting it bit by bit into the Soul Sanctuary.

With the support of the body’s vigorous vitality, the Soul Sanctuary seemed to change from insubstantial to gradually substantial. After about half an hour, Ace stopped and began to eat supernatural cuisine in large mouthfuls—Mulu Steak sprinkled with White-Fire Toothed-Tongue Flower Ash.

“I didn’t expect supernatural cuisine to provide such immense vitality. I hope Logan develops a few more types of supernatural cuisine so I can rotate the variety while replenishing vitality.”

Ace swallowed a piece of tender, medium-rare Mulu Steak, revealing an intoxicated expression. After a long while, Ace continued to mutter to himself.

“Supernatural cuisine is of immense significance to a Formal Wizard. These newly born Gourmet Runes are even more marvelous. If I hadn’t become a Formal Wizard, I wouldn’t be able to observe and record them effectively at all.

With enough supernatural cuisine, vitality can be replenished at all times. Even if I provide a large amount of vitality to the Soul Sanctuary, it won’t ruin my body.

Conversely, the promotion of the Soul Sanctuary will inevitably drive the improvement of the soul’s essence, and the sublimation of the soul’s essence will raise the upper limit of the body’s functions.

By replenishing vitality with supernatural cuisine and supplementing it with a Formal-level Meditation Method, the body and soul can climb synchronously. The balance problem leading to Level 2 Life will naturally be solved!

I must vigorously advocate for apprentices to research supernatural cuisine. I will invest Mana Stones to establish a Supernatural Food Research Institute, using the apprentices’ wisdom to pave the way for me.

The only problem now is that I have no clue about a Formal-level Meditation Method. The Advanced Wizard Apprentice Meditation Method has no effect on improvement.”

Ace’s gaze still held worry. Without a Formal-level Meditation Method, relying solely on the Vitality Injection Method was inefficient.

The Vitality Injection Method was an internal circulation of soul and flesh, while meditation was the circulation of the unified soul and flesh with the external world. The Formal-level Meditation Method was currently the most important subject.

I have stayed in the High Tower Territory long enough. Once I combine a 1-Ring Spell Model and have the power to protect myself, I will go out to find clues and opportunities for a Formal-level Meditation Method, Ace thought, continuing to inject vitality into the Soul Sanctuary.

With the injection of vitality, the Soul Sanctuary stabilized bit by bit.

Two weeks later, nourished by vitality, Ace’s Soul Sanctuary had expanded by nearly ten times its original size and hit a bottleneck.

Using the retrieval ability of the Spirit of the Book, Ace confirmed his status: Comprehensive Body Strength 12 Units, Soul Strength 13 Units.

“After reaching the Level 1 Life Tier and being able to inject vitality into the soul, the Soul Sanctuary actually expanded by nearly ten times. However, the potential of the vitality is basically exhausted. The rest is just slow, grinding work. It is time to combine the Spell Model.

According to the knowledge given by the mysterious existence, the Spell Model is actually a choice of the supernatural path. What direction should I choose?”

Ace rubbed his chin, pondering.
