Chapter 464: Program

The wizards began to ponder. Starting from the brain and soul—how should they proceed?

Bruce whispered to Allen: “Could it be brain modification? I see Caruso is best at modifying the human body. Is he going to use a monster’s brain?”

Allen looked at him with disdain: “A monster’s brain isn’t even as useful as a mortal’s brain. You really have an imagination.”

While they were talking, Betty continued: “Our souls are extremely complex, and modifying them is extremely difficult. However, Lord Ace provided a method, which is the clone. We can create purely rational clones, stripping away all emotions and maximizing calculation power. In a state of soul resonance, our calculation power will definitely increase.”

Everyone nodded. This was indeed a method, but it also had limits.

An advanced wizard apprentice could have at most one clone, a Level 1 Wizard two, a Level 2 Wizard three, a Level 2 Peak Golden Wizard four, and a Level 3 Wizard five.

If they relied solely on the calculation power of clones, it would probably only have a significant effect at Ace’s level.

Betty continued: “The ideal state is, of course, for clones to form a personal network similar to the Magic Net, thereby using the power of the personal network to achieve supernatural calculation. But in reality, even a Level 3 Wizard only has five clones. While they can form a simple network, it is far from our goal. Therefore, I turned my attention to the brain.”

Bruce said to Allen in horror: “She… she really wants to touch our brains!”

Allen was also slightly terrified: “That’s just her own idea. I certainly don’t want mine touched.”

Some wizards of the Life School were also thinking. Among them, the Soul Fire in the Lich Witte’s eye sockets flickered. He didn’t even have a brain, so such modification had nothing to do with him.

Betty continued: “Just like supernatural transformation, we can create an auxiliary brain with extremely high computing power. Using activation magic and magical creature modification, we can manufacture a purely instrumental auxiliary brain. Then, we let the clone dominate the auxiliary brain, thereby achieving coordination with us.

“Polina, Caruso, and I have already done some exploration on this. We have manufactured several models of auxiliary brains, specifically the Level 0 Prototype Auxiliary Brain and the Level 1 Prototype Auxiliary Brain. According to calculations, the Level 0 Prototype is equivalent to three times the computing power of an ordinary advanced wizard apprentice, and the Level 1 Prototype is equivalent to twice the computing power of an ordinary Level 1 Wizard.

“A Level 1 Wizard can carry up to two Auxiliary Brains, and an advanced wizard apprentice can carry up to one. This can effectively enhance our computing power and thus enhance our combat power!

“Is anyone willing to try?”

Polina and Caroso took out several prepared Auxiliary Brains. They were crystal-clear gems. If one looked closely, they would find a tiny brain inside.

They used 3-Ring Level Internal Space Extension Magic to fit a human-sized Auxiliary Brain into this fingernail-sized gem and engraved corresponding magical expressions with rune arrays.

Ace’s eyes also lit up. Although there was no Auxiliary Brain suitable for his use, the fact that Betty and the others could produce a finished product in such a short time proved that they had started this research long ago. This method might truly be a good auxiliary means.

However, Ace was also very confident in the magic computer. The rapid development of computers in his past life remained fresh in Ace’s memory. This was a broad road with an extremely bright future.

Bruce pulled Eva, jumped up, and hopped directly onto the high platform: “I am a Level 1 Wizard, and she is an advanced wizard apprentice. It’s just right.”

Allen didn’t react at all and watched dumbfounded.

Eva was also a bit dazed. She threw off Bruce’s fat hand somewhat angrily, but she didn’t walk off the stage, as that would embarrass Bruce.

Bruce touched his head and chuckled. He took two auxiliary brain gems from Caroso. Eva also walked up to Polina and took the other brain gems.

The two quickly understood how to use them. Since Eva had no experience with clones, Betty and the others set up a magic circle for free to help her create a clone safely.

After years of technical development and experience summarization, the wizards’ method of cloning was now very safe and reliable. With the help of the mental imprint long infused in the grimore, a clone could be created without risk.

Bruce had already created his clones. Following the operation steps, he slowly injected two clones into the two gems. The gems circled him and automatically embedded themselves into his arms.

The two gems flickered continuously. Under the light, a three-dimensional rune array emerged. With the help of the rune array, Bruce achieved real-time resonance with the clones in the auxiliary brains.

Ace’s eyes flickered with white light as the “Eye of True Knowledge” activated. It turned out that Betty and the others had borrowed the rune structure of the magic net to construct a close-range resonance model, thereby achieving information sharing and shared calculation power.

“In a sense, this is equivalent to a tri-core processor.”

Just as Ace sighed with emotion in his heart, Bruce had already attempted to use magic. His spell model was based on the Phlogiston Theory, and the power he mastered was also combustion.

Hundreds of scorching flames appeared around him in an instant. He jumped forward to an open space, about to cast magic.

Ace said loudly: “It is difficult to experience the real situation fighting alone. Let a newly promoted Official Wizard compete with you first.”

Soon, a newly promoted male wizard came to Bruce under Ace’s order. After Ace arranged emergency protective measures for the two, they exchanged blows quickly. Bruce won with an almost overwhelming advantage.

Ace randomly called another Official Wizard forward. In the end, three Official Wizards finally defeated Bruce through a war of attrition.

Eva also successfully created a clone. Her actual combat effect was even more amazing; she fought five advanced wizard apprentices alone and remained undefeated.

Betty and the others said no more. Facts had proven that this was an effective path.

Ace walked onto the high platform and said in a cheerful voice: “Betty has shown us a very effective path. By manufacturing powerful biological Auxiliary Brains, we can obtain stronger computing power. Facts have proven that this is an effective path.

“Today, I will introduce another path to everyone. I call it the magic computer!”

The Lich Witte, who had been listening drowsily, suddenly had the Soul Fire in his skeletal eye sockets brighten. As an undead, he was not interested in auxiliary brains, and it was very difficult for him to split a clones, so that method did not suit him.

The wizards listened to Ace eloquently explain the hardware and software of the magic computer concept. They gradually understood. The principle of the whole machine was not complicated. It utilized the five hardware categories—Controller, Arithmetic Unit, Memory, Input Device, and Output Device—supplemented by lines of edited program instructions to achieve calculation.

Many wizards felt that this method was too cumbersome. If they wanted the magic computer to possess super-strong computing power, they needed extremely complex integrated magic circuits, and they needed to write program instructions that were even more complex than spell models. This was simply like learning a new field that was not much less difficult than spells and runes.
