Chapter 503: Calm

Just then, a black shadow suddenly appeared in the sky, with a hideous face and a vicious expression. It was none other than the Demon Lord Arason.

His target pointed directly at the crystalline and radiant Divine Domain crystal in the sky. He wanted to use the aura of the Abyss to contaminate and take it away. Thoth was already prepared. He extended his slender right hand, instantly pressing against the opponent’s chest.

Boom!

A wound the size of a bowl appeared on Demon Lord Arason’s chest; his heart had turned into a hollow cavity.

Arason was a Demon Lord after all, possessing extremely strong regenerative powers, so he did not die from this. He retreated several steps, gave a few hateful glances, and disappeared.

Thoth was at a critical moment and did not chase after him. He held his Divine Domain crystal high. It went higher and higher, soon disappearing from sight.

All of Salia was rejoicing. Ace could even feel the Great Source aura boiling, seemingly exceptionally excited due to the addition of new power. The entire Inner World was jubilant. Ace looked at the sky thoughtfully, murmuring:

“Is this entrusting one’s path to the Prime Material Plane? As long as the Inner World is not destroyed, the Deity does not die? Demigods claim that they won’t die as long as they are not killed, but True Gods supposedly won’t die no matter what. In myths and legends, there are Legendary or even Epic Heroes who have slain Demigods against the odds, but absolutely no Demigod can kill a True God. Even a True God cannot kill another True God. Could it be related to this?”

The joy of the Great Source became more and more intense. Ronamos from the southern city-state also rushed over. Sensing this miracle of achieving True God status, He wanted to both observe the outcome and establish a connection.

Above Nightlight City, more and more wizards flew into the sky, looking around. Their expressions were solemn. Some wanted to say something but had their mouths covered by others.

“Revere the True God; do not speak nonsense.”

Everyone was waiting. It was not as jubilant as when Ace advanced. The wizards were mostly silent and contemplating. A thought lingered in the hearts of many of them: “Can we really stand shoulder to shoulder with Deities?”

Even Betty, who had always been very confident, was not so confident at this moment. The power of a Deity was too strong. This level of Great Source boiling and world rejoicing was simply incomparable.

Not to mention that True Gods are immortal; legends say that True Gods cannot be killed.

Stepping on an exquisite silver mechanical disk, Betty said softly: “Can our wizard’s Path of Profession really rival Deities? Such powerful Great Source boiling is simply incredible.”

Bayen flew out from behind her and said loudly: “The power of Deities is certainly worthy of respect. They are the source of bloodlines and the root of the God-descendants’ strength. But we also have advantages. We wizards are full of vigor. Since Lord Ace founded the Path of Magic, in just nearly twenty years, we have grown from a group of ordinary people to 3-Ring Wizards comparable to Great Heroes, and even 4-Ring Wizards.

“Lord Ace has even become a 5-Ring Wizard, comparable to a Legend. If we are given time—one hundred years, two hundred years—we wizards may not necessarily fail to produce strong ones who can rival Demigods or even True Gods.”

Bayen’s confidence infected the wizards beside him. They continued to look at the sky, a sense of longing and yearning gradually rising in their hearts.

Although it was broad daylight, loud thunder suddenly erupted, and rain poured down.

Flowers, grass, trees, insects, fish, birds, and beasts all prostrated themselves in Thoth’s direction. People also felt palpitations and couldn’t help bowing.

Thoth bloomed with magnificent light all over his body, looking like a man made of light.

He held the Divine Domain crystal high and flew continuously towards the sky, instantly rushing into the Great Source and disappearing.

Ace observed while drawing analogies:

“It seems somewhat similar to a small world. Becoming a god allows one to reach the deep layers of the world, the depths of the rules. One can entrust their domain fruit here, sharing weal and woe with the world from now on. If the world is immortal, the True God is undying.

“Looking at it this way, entrusting oneself to a powerful world is naturally the most cost-effective. Moreover, once entrusted, one forms a community with the world. Only when the world advances can the Deity obtain more benefits.

“However, if this is the case, one also loses their freedom. Are there any other possible paths?”

Ace thought hard but couldn’t find an answer. After all, he hadn’t reached this step yet, and empty thinking couldn’t be put into practice.

Just then, countless joyful sprites suddenly emerged in Nightlight City. They flew everywhere, spreading happiness. A large number of mathematical symbols, equations, and inequalities appeared, surrounding all the wizards.

Thoth’s voice sounded at this time: “My name is Thoth, son of the Lady of the Night, Artemis. Today I achieve True God status and ascend to the Arithmetic Divine Domain. From now on, you may call me the God of Arithmetic, the God of Recording Mathematical Knowledge, Thoth! Nightlight City is where I guard. I will grant grace to the whole city, bestowing the Arithmetic Blessing.”

Almost every resident of Nightlight City found the back of their hand burning slightly, and a mathematical symbol symbolizing infinity appeared on the back of their hand.

Ronamos was about to pay his respects when suddenly magnificent light burst out beside Thoth. It was the projection of the Lady of the Night arriving with the projections of her children Deities and Demi-gods.

The Lady of the Night, also known as the Goddess of the Bright Moon, was shrouded in moonlight, mysterious and powerful. She took Thoth’s hand, and surrounded by a group of Deities and Demi-gods, they disappeared.

Just as Ronamos was feeling annoyed, He suddenly saw a bright light erupting in the north. The aura of that Abyss Projection actually weakened gradually and died out. A painful roar seemed to appear, faintly accompanied by bright moonlight. Seeing a bright moon fall, everything returned to calm.

The newly advanced True God Thoth and the Gods of the Night appeared again. Ronamos implored them to take action and flatten the Abyss Projection in the Northern Territory. The Goddess of the Bright Moon, Artemis, smiled but didn’t answer, disappearing directly with the gods.

Thoth stayed briefly, exchanged a few polite words with Ronamos, and left Ronamos to leave resentfully.

Inside the temple, Thoth said to Ace:

“Having this Abyss Projection or not doesn’t affect the overall situation. However, without the projection, we border the Medimus City-State, which might breed trouble. Leaving this Abyss Projection is also appropriate.

“I am about to leave the Inner World. The two demons in Salia have been cleared. Although the devils are taking action, the problem is not big. As the Guardian God of this city-state and the Patron of the wizards, I naturally favor you. I hope you can study theory and develop power with peace of mind, and do not cause trouble.

“As long as you can advance to Demigod through the Path of Magic, I guarantee on behalf of the Lady of the Night that you will have a place among the gods, and wizards will also shine brilliantly in this world.”

Ace nodded and said nothing. He understood the implication of Thoth’s words.

Initially, He invested in wizards only as a hedge bet on the iteration of civilization, hoping to bet on the general trend of this civilization.

But now, with foreign enemies invading, the world urgently needed mid-to-high-end combat power. If the collective strength of wizards could take shape quickly, they could directly become an important combat force in this battle of worlds. The battle of civilizations became less important; what mattered was how to win in this battle of worlds.

…

In the blink of an eye, three months passed. The Salia Region had returned to calm, but the actions of demons and devils in the Inner World became more frequent. Projections of True Gods descended multiple times, exchanging victories and defeats with demons and devils.

Ace was lecturing to the wizards in the Magic Castle when suddenly the heavens spun and the earth moved.
